• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Radiator Fans Running too often/too long

I did a search and didn't come up with this topic...so...I'm putting this in the general discussion forum instead of the F3 forum because it is really a 1330 issue, not specifically an F3 issue.

My 2015 'F3 runs at 4 bars (heat) and never goes above that....good!
However, the fans run about 50% of the time!
I have about 8000 mi on it now and I don't remember that happening for the first 2000.
The problem, of course, is that the fans are so loud that they're annoying (and they drown out my Kuryakyn speakers.)

Anyone else have this problem? If so, did you get a fix for it?

Is there such as thing as the temperature sensor being to "sensitive?"

Again, it has never overheated (stays solid at 4 bars) and runs great...I just can't believe that uber fan stuff is "normal."

Thanks for whatever info you can pass along. :dontknow:

I have noticed the fan is loud but as yet mine doesn't appear to overrun.
Since the time the fan is on is driven by the coolant temperature sensor it's hard to explain why at 4 bars your fan is misbehaving.

Routine maintenance in the manual says you should remove the grill and clean the radiators.
It's quite simple - 4 screws and it's out. I'd try that. Check for bugs and fuzzies!

Another vote for debugging the radiators. The new airways are like huge vacuums. When I had the trunk off, the radiators were full of stuff. KOTT grills help a bit.

Well....

Don't know about the noise the fan is making but it seems to be doing it's job. With higher outside temps the fan will run longer to keep you at operating temperature. If the F3 has the same system as the RT the fan will run in the reverse to clear the heat in the engine area when in traffic or stopped also making it seem longer. Clearing the radiators is a good idea....

Use some aluminum screen door screen behind the grills and in front of the radiators.
Worked great on my 1984 Gold Wing, kept all the junk out of the rad fins.
