Bought a Whistler Crusader Radar detector that fits right into the spot where the gas guage is. Can Anyone give me some help
with the install? Saw it on a bike owned by Giz
I bought it on AmazonI have the crusader and installed it about 1 ago. Very easy to do but will need to remove the top of the dash to gain access to the back side of the guage and read the instructions carefully. Mine is on the left and I put a volt meter on the right, the antenna block is mounted in side the right hand air intake at the very front of the vehical. Where did you buy yours, I believe they stopped selling these and mine has a glitch which causes me to have to restart all the time.
Washington state allows the use of radar detectors so no issue for me. I try not to speed but like the technology filling that hole until something else cool comes along, lol. I use cruise control religiously but even so the blue led flash reminds me to double check. Unless they are using laser, the other bands give me advanced warning by cars being gunned way ahead of me, usually about 1/2 mile or so.

Randy

I was going to leave this alone, but got riled up a bit. First of all, radar detectors are only illegal in 2 states, Virginia and Washington DC (ok, so its a Commonwealth and a territory, but who is looking?). In Virginia, it is not a moving violation but rather "improper equipment" which carries a $75 fine payable without appearance, and they cant take your detector any more as long as you plan on paying the ticket. This should be far cheaper than any ticket it would keep you from receiving. I personally ride from Virginia to Florida, and use an Escort 9500ix and use the Escort Live app on my iphone, and that combination makes you borderline invincible. It increases your awareness, keeps you from spending some time on the side of the road, and you can share information lf you see a radar trap.
My son's a cop here in New York State--and he tells me that by the time the detector goes off, he's already got me! the only time if might help is if you're traveling in a group of cars/trucks on the interstate. I have found a CB radio is much more effective for locating the cops than a detector. Just my opinion.
