• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Radar Detector Questions

I drive to and from Baton Rouge weekly... I have a Escort 9500ix ... it detects "K -- KA -- & Laser band" there is not a day that my 9500ix does not pick up quite a few police radar signals on my trips ... i'll keep using one.. in fact I am looking for a mount for my 2014 RT and I 'll mount one on my spyder.. I don't habitually speed.. but where I get in trouble is where the speed limit drops and police know where to set up .. its money in the bank for them..

This is the best radar you can buy bar none. I've had Escort detectors since they came out and I've never got a ticket with it, other than once with an airplane was used, not radar. I have a Ram mount with the 12V plug on the dash so that the smart cord lights up when it goes off. It cost $300-$400, think it thru, one ticket plus the screwing the insurance company will do to you pays for it. I have always had one, not to speed and get away with it any more than I buy car insurance so I can wreck my car.

What I have found with many miles in lots of states is that laser might be the newest and greatest, but it requires the cop to be stationary and point it at you like a gun. Most don't do it. The Escort and others do pick up Laser and if you are not the front guy, there is "spatter" from the gun and the Escort picks it up. BlueKnight thinks that you can't beat laser, but I have a number of times, and no ticket. His dept. was probably smarter than the ones out here:doorag:

Thinking that a cop will target you because you have a det. is foolish. If you are speeding usually 10 over, and you don't get slowed down in time, you will probably get a ticket. If you can talk your way out of a ticket, then you might. It's like packing a gun. I would rather have it and never need it than need it once and not have it. Richard Prior once said that he found out "that you can get more with a gun and a smile than just a smile".

Once my wife was doing 95 in a 75 zone, the det. went off and I saw that he was pointed in the other direction. I said "lock it up". He pulled us over and said " I'm not going to give you a ticket but you slid thru my radar at 76, I'd suggest you slow down". We said "Yes sir, have a safe day".
He saw the det. and never said a word.

I gave up on radar detectors a long time ago. Generally I drive/ride around 5 mph over the limit on the highway and the police don't even notice me. There are more than enough drivers doing 90-100 mph to keep them busy.
