• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Quick Release Windshield Mod

With such a wide variety of windshields to chose from and many of us who now own more than one shield, how about someone coming up with a quick release mod?

Some of you have found out the hard way that repeatedly screwing in and out the stock mounting screws will eventually strip out. If a permanent mounting plate could be made with the bolts facing out and a small knob/nut fastener to tighten, we could very quickly swap out shields.

Should be easy for someone to design and fabricate.

It will be tricky, due to the angle that the screws mount into the console and the curvature of the Spyder windshield. You'd have to have long slots in the windshield to slip over studs. I think you might be better off with a metal monting plate like the CHAD, with closer spaced fasteners for the windshield itself. You could probably fabricate some quick mounts then, but might not need to, since a steel plate with (welded nuts) wouldn't strip as readily.

I've thought about this too. Someone on one of these sites made a set of black metal that fit on each side of the shield that looked really nice - they just used longer screws that went through the plate and then the shield.

I thought of taking it a step further and making that design into a quick release system. Instead of needing to go over the screws that would stick out - you could cut the shields holes straight out to the edge so it can slip down between the console and the metal pieces and then clamp it down.
