• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Quick change seat??

I want to install a driver backrest on my stock RT Ltd seat, but the wife doesn't like having a backrest in front of her when she rides with me. She is also concerned about me cutting a hole in the seat to install the backrest. So....I thought I would buy another seat and install the backrest on it and just swap the seats when appropriate. I know the nut & bolt setup you have to play with to remove the seat is not fun. Has anyone replaced the nuts & bolts with pins & and a hitch or bridge pin so no tools would be required to remove and replace the seat? Or is there a better solution to becoming a quick change artist? :) :)

Look at the Utopia backrest. It has an option that allows the removal of the backrest. My wife has back problems and I installed this option to remove the rest that allows her to get on the bike by sliding up from the driver's seat

I looked and liked what I saw, but wifey didn't like the looks of the hole in he seat when the backrest was not in place. :(

Why would you want to mess with swapping the seat? :dontknow: You spend all that money for a new seat, just get yourself a better seat that you'll never want to take off!

Like srwilli wrote, the Utopia is your best bet if you want to keep your current seat. If you want to get a new seat, you obviously have a number of options. I chose the Ultimate, it has an easily removable adjustable driver's backrest that I can pop out in two seconds, and there's a flap that covers the remaining hole if that's important to you. (Plus, for you RT owners, the Ultimates now come with a fuel door, ala the Corbins).

And once I put the Ultimate on, I never again wanted to switch to my old seat.

...And it also has a flap that tucks down into place to cover the...hole!
The idea of pins to hold the seat on holds some promise!
Let us know what you decide to do, and Good Luck! :D

If you use pins , you will not be able to adjust seat , forward or back. You will need to remove front pin that locks seat , when not fueling . This isn't a major issue , but if you don't remove , you will have issues unlocking seat to fuel . Just some info (:

Not sure..!!

about RT's but RS/RSS have a seat sensor as well. You will have to make sure you get that on the other seat. Good shop could make a matching cover for seat without backrest...

If you are going to spend the money on a new seat, upgrade to an Ultimate or Corbin. The backrest brackets are not add on but are designed into the seat.

If your wife is concerned with you cutting the hole in your saddle, there's also the option of shipping your saddle to Utopia and paying them to do the install. During the winter months, this may be a viable solution without having to sacrifice riding time. Call them and ask about it.

Challenging would be an understatement! Good ideas from everyone. Now I just have to try and play Monte Hall and sell one of them to the wife. :)

And why do they have to label the days on the forecast as "cold"?? I think the numbers alone tell the tale!
