• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So I am doing an online build comparing making a F3T into a F3 Limited. That's so I don't get and maybe pay for all those ugly chrome bits.

So on the top case.
On the F3 Limited. The top case is included. The color matching panels for the top case are included. The speakers, amplifier kit for top case is included.
On the F3T. The top case is an option. $1,799 CAD. The color matching panels are an option. $239 CAD But I cannot find the top case speakers as an option???? Anybody know how much?

Also on the top case.
The radio antenna is on the rear tail section on a F3T. But on the F3 Limited or F3T optional top case pictures. The antenna is mounted to it. Do you have to move the antenna?

Hi Billy,
I don't have any true facts for you... :opps:, but I don't see how your antenna can remain in it's original mounting location. That trunk would have to cover that spot!

A thought or two come to mind:

:ani29:: Usually, it is less expensive to buy the bike assembled the way you want it. However, I hate it when that includes pieces that you really don't want (ala chrome included). What does that have to do with the top case? Similar to cable TV packages. Give you the 10 channels you want and throw in 15 garbage channels to make the package bigger and justify the asking price.

:ani29:: If these parts are going to be ordered separately, will they actually be in stock for those wanting them NOW? Think F3 saddlebags last year.

I agree with you that the antenna should move. But the top case is advertised to be removable. How practical is that if the antenna has to be moved each time.

My (Once again!) guess, is that a new antenna cable with a disconnector-plug, would also be needed.
After all: wouldn't moving it to the top of the trunk result in the old cable being too short? :dontknow:

Great questions, as that thought to get an F3-T and add the top case would be a much more affordable approach. In my case, I wouldn't need the additional speakers in the top case, as I wouldn't listen to the radio (use the Sena instead). But it certainly begs the question if the speakers are in there. Better question on the antenna. When you think of it going the other direction - taking the top case off of the Limited - what happens to the antenna and your radio reception when you remove the removable top case? Hmmmm...

SPEAKERS

I consider myself to be an audio-phile. But to be honest un-less you wear an open helmet you won't know if the rear speakers are on or not........and I have very, very good rear speakers. I have heard the ones BRP put in the F-3 and they are quite an improvement from what is in the RT................jmo........Mike

Come on Billy in the "fifties" you could not have too much chrome! I can still get chrome but not so much

the "Ducktail " Haircut.

Billy, looks are subjective. There is no right or wrong. That said, my taste is in line with yours and I too avoided the Limited on my wife's RT and my F3 to eliminate the chrome. On the antenna, that's a really good question. I too can't see moving it every time. Hmmm... On the speakers, perhaps at the price they are charging for the top case, they are included. Since you can't find them anywhere as a stand alone option, that would be my guess. I found what appears to be the left and right speaker wires under the back seat so I'm thinking the audio system is already set up for the rear channels.

:D To each his own...
But I'm like an old crow: if it's shiny; it'll be picked up!
Isn't it the GoldWingers, who call it, "Safety Chrome"?

I see the 2017 virtual accessories catalog is up and running. Well at least the Canadian one. The speaker kit is listed as a separate item in it. Seams kinda pricy to me.

Interesting. It would appear the top case is getting more expensive by the minute. Between the case, side panels, and amp, you're up to 2k retail. Plus you need the $200 base kit.

I guess I missed the base kit. Where did you see that? Also I see the Top Case is not available until April of 2017.

The US accessory site isn't showing anything so I just did a build and price. The amp kit that you found isn't there but the base kit is. Build and price an F3T and on the last page, look under storage. Another cool add on to the top case (or just back rest if you're so inclined) are the adjustable arm rests. You can see them, the case, and the base plate on Pittbull's FB page. (No FB membership required...)

The Canadian build and price does not show a base kit. Well ain't that odd. Closest it has is a Top Case Rack for external storage.

You're not talking about this are you.

I think you're right about what I saw on BRP's site. On further inspection it looks like a top case rack. Phew. Back down to 2k...LOL... Sorry about that. Just noticed the arm rests are $450. Man all this stuff is as bad as Harley accessories price wise.
