• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Questions concerning 2015 sponsored Spyder Events

Reality and perception are rarely the same thing. This is never more true than with a large event like those being discussed here.

Even the same event is different each year. Find the one(s) you like and support them. If you don't they may not come back.

BRP has the choice to support the ones they like just like you and I do.

There is no 'Perfect' event. Never has been. Never will be. But the enjoyment factor at most events is way beyond the time and expense it takes for you or I to enjoy it. That is what it is all about.

My suggestion is to watch football on Sunday if you feel the need to Monday Morning QB.

We need to encourage the sponsors of these events if we want them to continue and to get better each year. Suggestions are fine. But let them know how much we appreciate all the time/money/effort they put out.

DEADWOOD

I signed up for the Deadwood Three Wheeler. Rally before it was announced that BRP was one of the sponsors. I signed up because I was excited about the group rides offered and the beautiful scenery in that part of SD. I knew exactly what I was getting with my registration fee. After BRP was announced as a sponsor, it was announced that BRP was providing a free meal to all entrants and a free breakfast to Spyder riders. That was just icing on the cake. I'll repeat what others have said. If you don't like what is offered for your registration fee then don't go. If this event meets my expectations I will go back next year.

and let me point out, it's guys like ron here @ bajaron that help us make these events what they become!! ron has yet to attend a spyderquest, yet he is still one of our biggest sponsors!! we all thank you ron for your donations every year, and only hope that one of these years you will be there with us!!:2thumbs:

Thanks Ron for all that you do to support the Sypder community. You are greatly appreciated by many.

It isn't that I don't want to come. It's that all of you keep me so busy I don't have time! Now if you held SpyderQuest in January I would have plenty of time to attend. But we all know I'd be the only one there! :roflblack:

If you ever want to get a real taste of what it takes to put on one of these events. Volunteer to help. Most of us really have no idea how huge an undertaking one of these events can be.

When we support each other, everything gets better!

Me too.

I totally agree. Signed up for Deadwood before I knew it was sponsored by BRP. Hope it is as good as it looks on paper. If not, won't go back.

My vote goes to: Attend a event, if you like it, go back. If you do not like it, do not go back. In both case, offer to help in some way if you can.

Nothing happens with out a lot work/coordination by people.Police escorted ride through 9 jurisdictions took how many phone calls, visit to the departments, a whole lot.

Some actual comments from events
check boxes: did attend not opening or closing, did not attend seminars, did not buy from vendors, did not take any of scheduled rides but enjoyed talking to people.

Small amount of vendors present although I never buy anything from them anyway.

Actually asked for people to help with a three day rally after I paid ten dollars to attend.

I would guess the value of the Goodie bag and "free food" came to less then $30. Event fee was $20.00

I would go on, but anybody who has helped put these events knows how much work goes into them. I very enjoyed the Spyderfeast, I was able to attend. I have helped in the past with a lot of them

Some people would bitch if they were hung with a new rope.:banghead:

If you attended Spyderfest and have a clue, you know that you got MANY times what you paid to get in. IMO it was fantastically executed/run and having some experience in throwing these events, no one got rich. Even the vendors hopefully made money, but I doubt if any of them ended up in a higher tax bracket.

I don't know what most paid to get there, but I spend $1100+ for gas, $1200+ for hotels, $500+ for food, the free meals at SF were appreciated, I may never eat a hamburger again:joke: but I think that you should see that the value of the event was the people that you meet and the stuff that you learned and experienced. That wouldn't have happen without all the hard work many people did to put the event on.

As for BRP sponsoring and making rules, in light of the way they avoided their responsibility with the heat issues, I'd just as soon they stay out of the events. IMO BRP management don't have a clue about customer service/appreciation. Yes, I love my Spyder, but I didn't spend a bundle and had to re-engineer it to make it usable. The fact that they also seem to have way too many dealers that don't know how to fix a Spyder and/or rip you off, is pathetic too. The fact that others are worse is no excuse.
