Questions and photos about Corbin Seats for RT

TicketBait

RT-S PE#0412
Getting real close to ryding up to Corbin in Hollister CA. and getting the Dual tour saddle no heat, the Trunk rest
and trunk armrests. Not sure if the large Tee ovalbac or the standard is the way to go. I know MouthPiece, and 3Ryder
got theirs along with LaMonster.

With the upcoming trip of over 3500 miles to spyderfest and back, I wanna take care of my derriere so I don't have to do alot of shifting in the saddle

Any one else have photos to share? Or info?

There was a great question asked as to whether with the armrests the passenger could reach the grips
comfortably. That it depended on the rider. So from the photo below can someone that knows answer it for me.

I am thinking about a black alligator top, and the arm rests and oval-back done in black Ostrich.
here is 3 ryders ::thumbup:

I like how the backrest folds down too!

Both types of stitching looks great, will probably go the conservative way.

Here is the LaMonster cut, I don't think I will need to be further back, but if they have one i can try there that will be great.
I really like the Alligator leather but not sure if it is baby or large alligator, or a combo. Also has it worn well?

I'll ask my wife about whether she can still reach or hold on to the hand grips. I doubt she has even tried since the "install" in that she feels very secure with the corbin armrests. I'll let you know though.

Chris PE# 0004 PS: Make sure they put the VSS/Nanny sensor on right side up.

If you're going to be at the factory you can have them make any adjustments you want before they cover the seat. That's how I decided that mine needed to be dished out to cup me in better. :doorag:

By the way the Corbin just might make you a Ironbutt rider. nojoke

:agree:Going to the factory will get all your questions answered and any tweeks made that you need. Make sure you go early enough so you can put about 1000 miles on the seat before makeing the longer trip. Going on my 2nd Corbin seat on two different bikes and they both seemed better after a little break in time. You will like the seat a lot--specially the gas tank door feature for the RT.

I asked my wife, Cindy, about her ability to get to the hand grips. She said it can be done, but is difficult. Quite frankly I was a bit surprised when she told me she had tried. Either I was driving like a bat outta hell or she was just inquisitive. I didn't ask which.

Hope this helps.

My Corbin has worked out well. We got the seat and Passenger backrest and the Oval rider backrest. The passenger armrest may make it difficult to get on n off, so we passed on them. In the past, the best seat I've ridden on was a Day Long Seat. More support than the Corbin, but you have to furnish the seat pan.

Ok I set an appointment to ride in Friday and pick out my materials etc. so they can put it on Saturday
morning when they open up. They said it takes with arm rests approx 5-6 hours, but they will stay till
it is completed

Iron-butt here I come! BTW is your seating panel leather baby aligator or large?

Yes the ride home is 300 miles, and I average approx 1200 miles a month. So she will be broken in for :spyder2:fest

Very, very nice daveO1. With the LaMonster cut and back rest is there still enough room for the pasenger. Before my wife would carry her purse infront of her and that would act like a back rest to me. So I think I just answered my own question. lol

That's good to know Chris, my wife being a new rider never wanted to let go of the grips, it took her quite a while to get over the sensation that if she was not holding on to the grips that she would be tossed from the bike. I kept telling her to just lean back and press down with her feet on the passenger boards. She had to build up confidence that by just changing the volume she wasn't gonna be thrown off. Would hate to get them and then she uses it as an excuse not to ride ( is my biggest fear)
Thanks for yours and Cindy's input

Wow Doug chiming in from Norway:clap:. My wife is from Sweden and we have visited her Sister in Oslo several
times! Thanks for your information on getting on and off possibly being effected, does your back rest fold
forward down?

I bet you got the heated seat. :)

You brought up a good question, getting on and off. I asked Corbin if just putting on one armrest was do able and
they said yes. So my next question to everyone is, would that look weird or unfinished to have just one armrest installed? Better to go all or none?

I'm not for sure but my guess is large. They might be able to look it up when you get there. Freddy is the guy who did the work on mine.

I ordered mine back around December 7th. and it should be here in another week or so (factory shut down for 2 weeks at Christmas). I went with the Tuck 'N' Roll leather pattern with black welting & thread, Lamonster cut plus saddle moved back the maximum 1.5" for my long legs and to try to get my profile down a bit. I went with the Large "Oval T" Backrest and no armrests as I was worried about any rear ryder not being able to reach down to hold the rear grips. The Corbin rep told me it will take roughly 2k mile in the saddle for break-in. :doorag:

It's funny, I had thought that it was the foam that broke in but after riding around on mine with no cover you realize the foam is plenty soft, it's the cover that breaks in. One of the things that makes a Corbin look so great is the tight cover. It has very little give in it and I think the cover will give a little and your butt does the rest, the foam itself is very soft.

Thanks for the info, did you get to try out the lamonster cut first? If not , then how tall are you? I find the current configuration ok, but if it would be better ro be further back what are my options. When I get there do they have me sit on a foam to test out? I am 6'2"

I'm not for sure but my guess is large. They might be able to look it up when you get there. Freddy is the guy who did the work on mine.

When I get there tomorrow Friday, I will ask for Freddy, they told me Julio would be there to let me know if I can get my Handle " TicketBait" embroidered where you got "LaMonster" put on yours.

I sat on Lamonts at his cookout in September. I am 6'5" so I needed all of the "moving" back in the saddle I could get. I gave all of my measurements to the salesperson, Marissa and she took to their engineers and came back with the recommendations we used to order.

Thanks, for getting back, I leave in an hour for the ride up. Will report later how it all worked out .....I am so excited
