There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Questions---2012 RT-S SE5

Hello:

I have a new 2012 Spyder RT-S SE5 (viper red) and just took it out for a longer little ride yesterday before all the cold air settles in for this coming week.

They said, so I thought that the FRUNK could store 2-full-faced helmets or even the Saddle Bags could store helmets.

Yesterday my HJC 3/4 with a face shield fit find in the Right hand Saddle bag. (Large size)

My wife's 3/4 XL- 3/4 Helmet made by a different manufacturer would NOT fit in the Left Hand Saddle Bag----

When you buy these Spyders and you think you have quite a bit of on board storage----turns out you really do NOT have.

Has anyone else had these kinds of issues?

I think that is all I had at this moment but don't be surprised if I come back with more questions later!

Thank you---

Reid

I'm afraid your salesman was a little optimistic. A full face helmet will fit in the right saddlebag, on its side. A 3/4 might fit in the left side if you play with positioning, but larger ones my not, and a full face helmet will not. Two 3/4 have been fit into the front, at least on an RS, but only nested into each other, without face shields. The RT has halmet hooks under the seat, but you may need to use a cable tie in a loop as a strap extension.

I have a modular helment ( Shark). I fits fine in the frunk with visor folded back. Have tried other places. To me, fitting two full face helmets in anything but a trailer is a bit much.
Good luck, enjoy your ride.

Thanks! what gets me is it was BRP online website on the 2012's that I had read that the FRUNK could hold two helmets and a dealer said the saddlebags would hold them too. Hummmm- I find this all very interesting to say the least.

I know what you mean about some dealers only wanting the sale and then leave you to your own accord. I don't agree with that but am very confident in where we bought ours except it was or is a 5 hour drive away from where we live.

You are right though- some dealers will answer question after question but when it came to the bottom line, just wasn't a good situation, at least at the time. Where we got ours they built it and added some modifications for us with free labor on them. Saying it was easier to install at the time of building than later. So that alone was a great selling point for us.

Thank you and to the others for your insight and opinions and experiences.

MERRY CHRISTmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

:agree:No question about it, the quality of the dealership can dictate the quality of your Spyder experience. I fit a full face helmet with Sena Bluetooth attached in the frunk along with my wife's 3/4 with her bluetooth attached Senas. Spent some time playing with the configuration until it worked. Give it a try. For daytime stops just use the hooks under the seat...

It will hold two helmets...two half helmets. .....or maybe a half and a full or 3/4.

3/4 will fit

We are able to store our 3/4 G-Max, face shield down with Cadro Scala Riders attached in the frunk. It holds both medium helmets. You need to try different variations on positioning.
The helments also fit in the two side bags.
I use velcro loops to hang the helmets on the hooks under the seat for the occasions when the other storage is being used.

When I am dealing with salesman I like to do a "Missouri" on them if I don't believe them.

Show Me! is what I will ask them.

I store my full face helmet in the frunk. Have not had much luck with getting mine in the right saddlebag.

Our salesman made no comment about spyder RT storage capacity when we were looking to purchase our spyder RT. What we have since found out is that my Shoei full face M helmet will fit in the larger side compartment facing the front of the helmet to the rear of the large storage compartment. My wife's Icon full face( S) helmet will not fit in the large compartment period. Her Icon full face helmet will fit in the frunk inserted upside down in the frunk. My Shoei full face helmet will fir in the frunk too . Only one helmet will fit in the frunk. My open face HJC(M) helmet will not fit in the large storage compartment when the bluetooth communicator is attached but will fit with no commincator attached.

When we have the frunk full and the compartments full we just lock our helmets to the under saddle hangers.

I store my full or 3/4 in the right side saddle bag and a full face in the frunk. The liner in the frunk seems to take up some space and makes it a tight fit. My GS had no problem fitting a single full face in the frunk but two Z1R helemts did not make it. The left side bag has a hump in it to clear the battery.

I'm sure some of us can, modify, inovate, adjust, pound, dig, or want everver we want

to fit anything on our:spyder2:. Good luck:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I have a 2010 base RT. It came without a liner for the frunk. I have put 2 HJC modular full face helmets in the frunk without a liner. My wife wanted a liner so she ordered one and I installed it. I haven't been able to fit 2 helmets of any size in the frunk since. So BRP is technically correct in saying that the frunk will hold 2 full face helmets. The right side saddlebag will hold any helmet that I've tried to put in it including a 3/4 Shoei, a Shoei modular and a HJC modular but, as Scotty says, the helmet has to be positioned just right. Knowing that the left side bag has the bump out for the battery, I haven't attempted to put a helmet in it. Most of the time if we stop for something to drink or to eat, I just hang mine on the handlebar. I know that someday I may come back and it's gone but I've been doing that for nearly 40 years and old habits are hard to break.

I would think that on the 2013's this issue should be solved somewhat in that the battery will be up front.
