• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those who have installed this on their Spyder, have you changed out the lever to a short-reach lever? Which one did you choose?

I'm having one installed next week so will be watching this thread closely.
I think I've heard that ISCI offers one.
Likely that not just any old lever will do. The original parts are Harley.

P.S. No need to post the same question in more than one place.
That tends to make any discussion that results hard to follow.

I would not recommend the shorty lever if the ISCI is your main braking system. You need full leverage and all fingers to make it work best. Shorty levers work well for clutches especially vacuum assisted ones and dual disc single wheel front brakes like street bikes and off road bikes...:thumbup:

Is that based on experience with this specific application.......or on general lever theory ?

If I have to take my thumb completely or mostly off of the bar just to reach the lever, then it isn't going to be very effective.
 
I use the ISCI as my only brake (I am a paraplegic) and while it works well, it needs most all of the pull to be effective. It does not give the same braking as the foot pedal (does not depress pedal as far as when it is stepped on) without it being adjusted perfectly. ISCI's service is great and I really like them, but if you are able I would highly recommend that you learn to use and rely on the foot pedal.

I too would not recommend a shorty brake lever. I found the effort to pull hard enough for significant braking force exceeds my wife's ability and can be a test for me. It is definitely much more difficult than any two-wheeled motorcycle I have ever owned and that includes some very heavy touring bikes.

:agree: x 2. One of the main things said about the ISCI brakes is that it takes some effort to use them. A longer reach lever will give better leverage. :thumbup:

The reduced reach lever is not shorter, it has a little different angle to bring it a bit closer to the grip for folks with smaller hands. It still has the same leverage as the standard lever. It's a standard Harley part as is the master cylinder assy. I had no problem braking hard enough to engage the ABS with the ISCI brake system

Well if it is reach that is he problem a full size dog leg lever could help or the adjustable reach me lever. Shorty levers , the ones I know, are a two finger lever . :thumbup:
 
We replaced the lever with a Rolland sands adjustable lever
but yes you want to make sure you have enough to fully pull that lever 100%
