• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Question on Chrome Footrest Support install for RT

I have a 2011 RT Limited. Starting to add some chrome bling to dress it up some more. I have a question concerning the Chrome Footrest Support. Has anyone installed these? For some reason the installation instructions call for the removel of the seat and Rear Cargo Module. :dontknow: I have read over the instructions several times but it I don't understand why this would be necessary. I want to make sure I understand the complete install before I begin so I can minimize my downtime. I like working on it but riding is more fun. :D

You have to remove the bolts that hold the brake reservoir under the seat so you can slide it forward to remove the master cylinder. If you look at the two rubber hoses coming off the reservoir that are attached to the master cylinder , the both units have to slide forward to disengage the foot peg support .

That being said if you take the seat off and then take the rear cargo module bolts out and gently slide it back with-out removing it you should be OK, but if you have gone that far its not much more involved to remove the cargo module . A helper is required .

I found this install the most involved of all the mods I've done on either the SE5 or my RTS Limited !! After that it would be the Chrome handlebar cover.

If you are handy at all and can follow the instructions its quite involved but certainly doable.

The install took me about 7 hours as I had a bear of a time with one bolt that I couldn't get started. Make sure on the Chrome support that all bolt holes have a slight counter sink and the bolts start easily before you start the install . This would have saved me 3 hours on the install if I followed my own advise .

fastfraser, thanks for advice. Guess I'll save this update for a rainy day. The handle bar cover also looks like an all day project. The instructions didn't cover the GPS cable that is installed on a RT Limited. Did you have to pull the GPS cable out also to feed it through the cover?

Yes . You have to take all the panels off the right side to disconnect the cables from the GPS and then fish them through the GPS support bracket. The connections are at the back of the gas tank on the right side . If you read the instructions I think it says 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Took me 4 as rewiring the GPS was an hour job .

I had ordered but returned the chrome GPS mount as you don't really see it once the Zumo is inplace .

This looks like an easy install, remove a few bolts and Bobs your uncle ! Not so much you have to remove the key cylinder which requires all the extra steps .

But like you said good rainy day project and God knows we certainly have had a few of those .
