Hello fellow Spyderlovers!
Today, I just completed adding the Smoothspyder belt tensioner. Took my time and it turned out great! Removed all LH panels including bottom foot peg casting - takes time, but worth being able to get at it more easily to drill holes and install. I did some checks on where the belt is tracking as I had it at the dealer for 7 days (yes, 7 days loss of riding) for the vibration issue I was experiencing. Long story short, it now vibrates at lower speeds (vibration WAS at 72-82 mph, now around 60 mph) and appears to be about the same or worse. I've been staying in 4th at highway speeds to help reduce the vibration -- seems to help, but still there. So I installed the Smoothspyder belt tensioner. Photos attached. Approximately 4700 miles on the bike.
MY QUESTION: I noticed the belt on the front drive pulley is to the far outboard position (can see this on the third and fourth photo) and not centered at all. Can the rubbing of this belt on the outboard lip be causing my vibration issues?????? The Tech did adjust belt tension and according to my Krikit II gauge, it shows approx 140 lbs. He said he also moved it over slightly on the back pulley (this looks in spec. to me - small gap to inner lip of pulley and tracking well). The Tech did NOT mention the belt position on the front pulley to me at all. If you look at the belt, you can see something going on the ribs to the outboard side (first photo).
Appreciate your expert opinions !!! By the way....the tensioner seems to be working fine, but I still feel some vibration (I may be sensitised to this issue and looking for it more than a person who doesn't have it!).
