• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

question for those who are familiar with honda bikes...

I can't find the thread but someone once posted a specific about a problem with a line of honda bikes...can someone please post that again as I have a buddy who claims that honda bikes have NEVER had a problem...

Thanks...

You don't need a thread for that. There has never been anything made by man that hasn't had problems. Problem is, you will never convince that person, no matter what you show him.
I had a 1976 and a 1980 Goldwing, and worked for a Honda dealership for 4 years. Problems did and do exist.

that honda bikes have NEVER had a problem...

Thanks...

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Good one!

Being everybody is so worried about fires....

Here;s one I know first hand about from when I worked in a Honda dealership in my early days.

There was a safety recall Honda had for all early 70s bikes (I think it was 71-74 but I'm getting old) These bikes gas caps would "pop open" in an accident allowing the gas to go everwhere. :yikes:

This caused many people to get burned in accidents, and was a huge problem for Honda.

I know this, as it was when I was working in a Honda dealership during those "recall days" and I changed more gas cap locks than "Carter's got little pills" under this recall.

How's that for a "problem" for ya?

Everybody has problems, because "humans" make these things

Thanks guys...just wanted some info...got what I need...yahoo! As we all know, people get very brand loyal...almost to a fault.

I see no problem defending a product, but to make an absolute statement usually goes to far...

Can't speak specifically to bikes, but Honda did have a recall on 05-06 TRX450 quads for a poorly designed starter one-way clutch... the recall expired in late 07. I'm in the middle of replacing my neighbor's right now. They never bothered to inform him (he purchased new and properly registered with Honda).

Goldwing

Bruce,

That's perfect! Thank you...never realized that the Goldwing had such a problem...being this person has had a goldwing, he might appreciate this...

I have a GL 1800 Goldwing and mine was one that had to be taken back for the frame re-call. There was also a lot of issues about overheating (all over the threads) I never had a problem. All machines will have some issues, some more than others; the key is how the dealers and manufacturer address the issues. Honda does a good job of this, IMHO and I guess that is why they are the largest Motorcycle manufacturer in the world.

Honda has endured a few of these engineering disasters, but responded well to them. The first CB350s had horrid cam chain problems. It almost put Honda out of business. They quietly recalled them all (nobody does these things loudly) and replaced the mechanisms with a modified design. Replaced every engine that was destroyed as a result of broken cam chains. Obviously, it did not tarnish their reputation......but there wasn't an Internet then.

It is interesting to watch folks try to compare the reliability records of Honda and the BRP Spyder. Honda's record aside, the fact is that our Spyders are experiencing serious problems that seem to grow as more units are sold and the original Spyders approach 2 years of age. I have #600 of the first Spyders and am within 3 months of being out of warranty. I hold my breath and can only hope that Lamonster and all the other gurus of SpyderLovers.com can keep coming up with ways to fix whatever goes wrong. Hang in there guys! You are our only salvation!!!

oh no...please don't misunderstand me. The person wasn't comparing a Spyder to the Honda...he was just saying that Hondas NEVER have problems and I just wanted to correct him as all bikes, one time or another, have had problems...

Sounds like you have a love / hate relationship with your Spyder. One day you are fed up with it and the next you love it, a week later your back to hating it....

Jack - why not get the extended warranty? It might be a little expensive at this stage but could be well worth it!
