• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the attached a photo of the access post for the negative side of the battery? If so something is wrong as the top of it just turns and does not losen or tighten:yikes:

Any suggestion are welcome

Thanks

There's a nut on the end of that bolt, You have to get something under there to hold it while you tighten it from the top [10mm]

Mine was that way also. Had to find a way to jam the nut underneath so it would not turn and then I could tighten it. Others have said just let the nut drop and install a new bolt as there are threads on the mount. Never checked that on my 2011 RT-S.

You say it does not tighten? If negative gets loose, it can cause all sorts of electrical problems with crazy limp home messages. Mine was loose and I disassembled panels to get the proper size wrench on it to tighten securely.

I think a lot of people have loosened that and had trouble re-tightening it.

For some reason BRP seems to have put a nearly inaccessible nut on the back end of that bolt.

Here's what I did.

Get a nut driver that fits the nut and mount it to a power drill.

Use the metal tab as a lever and push on it to put add some resistance to turning the nut underneath.

Use the nut driver to spin the bolt at a high speed. This should snug down the bolt. At least that worked for me.

Thanks All,

Lamont also said I could get to it from under neath, seem to be a straight shot to the nut

It is a pain to get to that nut, I thought it would be fine since there was a connection but I had the spyder running in the garage for a few minutes and touched that bolt when checking something and it was hot like I had put a blow torch to it. I took about 1/2 hour taking things off the bike and cursing at the guy that designed such a set up. I always said it, the guys at can am got drunk or high one night when designing a snowmobile and one of them said "I wonder what it would look like with wheels?". I think one of those guys designed that bolt location.

My negative terminal post was also loose. I was able to wedge a large flat blade screwdriver between the frame and the nut and tighten the 10mm bolt. Glad that worked otherwise I would have had to fabricate a special wrench to hold the nut.

:agree: That is exactly how I just tightend my bolt down, and now as my Polish Ancesters would say, "It's Time For Some Mead"... Thanks again for all the suggestions

Final Note Of Caution

This photo should say it all. For those who are wanting to add an airhorn, head the warning signs.
