There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Question for the desert dwellers

I have a 2011 rt. has any fellow desert dwellers had any overheating issues in the middle of summer? If so, how can it be prevented?

Can't help you with the desert, but I know the Spyder sheds a lot of heat and it loves the cooler weather although there are lots of riders in the deep south .

Here in phoenix we have ridden when the temp gauge on the bike indicated a temp of 124. The bike worked fine. However if we made a stopped less than 30 minutes, the check engine light would come on and stay on the next start up. The dealer said it was a intake air temp monitor. that threw the code. No harm to the bike just that the ambient air temp plus the engine heat create the warning.

I'm 90 miles north of Phoenix, so I'm a little cooler but still it can reach triple digits here and I haven't experienced a warning light but when the Spyder sits in the summer sun for any length of time it will run a little rough for a short while initially and then its fine. I may not be having any problems because of my mods, exhaust, intake, juice box, etc that allow mine to run a little richer thus a little cooler?

The wife has the Fan Can and the Block Off Plate installed and helps the heat with the heat on the right side alot. Might want to look into that. We haven't had any overheating issues as of yet.

I am glad you said this. Last August, my light came on and temp was 113 on indicated temp. It went off after I rode a few miles....thanks.

Overheating

I have had mine since April and really no heat problems. I have had the engine light on after the spider sat in the sun for a period. The temp gauge on the bike read 128 but by the time I go home, about 5 miles, everything was fine.

Heat

Have had mine for going on two years and never had a problem. Fred Rau traveled through Death Valley a while back and let his RT sit and idle for quite some time in the heat and experienced no problem as well.:chill:

The key seems to be to keep your Spyder moving... You're on your own for solutions if YOU overheat however... :D
...Something with Hops??? :thumbup::roflblack:

I have not had overheats but in rush out traffic I was starting to worry. I added "wetter water" to the rad and there was an observable difference. I used the whole bottle and was able to do so with out removing any of the antifreeze.

Regards,

SpyderPops has what you desire

Mind you, we're NOT dessert dwellers, but this past summer, 117 was the hottest we rode in & with having the "LeBlock" & "Cat. Shields" from Harvey at SpyderPops, we had not any issues with the Spyder overheating. We also have both splash-guards removed from underneath to allow more free flow of the heat to dissipate. Hope this helps & WELCOME TO THE SPYDERHOOD :welcome:
