• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question about odometer

Ed and I were coming home the other night from a dinner party (kick-off for Mardi Gras...). We stopped for gas, topped off our tanks and reset our trip meters. When we were out riding yesterday we were checking the distance between two houses. His trip meter was almost 3 miles different from mine. :dontknow: How did THAT happen? Who's gauge is correct? Anyone have any ideas? He did NOT sneak out for a short ride without me since his Spyder was on the far side of mine in the garage...we traveled exactly the same distance home since I was following him.

Differring tire pressures, differrent tire diameters (from changing from OEM tires), different rider weights, and variability between machines can all contribute.

Tires of different sizes will give you different result. I use my tom tom gps and it give me exact miles I travel.:ohyea:

My husband's bike always has about 3 miles more than my Spyder on each tank of gas. I attribute it to me being more direct than him. He tends to beat around the bush. :roflblack:

I believe Scotty has it pretty much nailed. There was a difference between our 2010 and 2011. When I put new tires on the 2010 the mileage differences between the two are now virtually zero. Maybe a 10th of a mile after a 100 mile ride.

I attributed our difference to the size in tires. (One with much lower tread height).

Dave/Teddy and Holly/myself experienced the same thing two years ago at SITA. We both drove the same roads right behind one another and I (on a 2008 RS) clocked 5 more miles than Dave did on his 2011 RT. This was over the course of a tank of fuel . Both tires were stock Kendas !!! :dontknow:

I always thought Holly wieght was the cause, but .......... :joke:

speedomoter discrepancys

i know my 09 has a 3 mph at 70 discrepancy
at 70 on gps my speedo is 73 so it does rack up more miles than the actual miles traveled

im guessing your new spyder is a 2010 or newer government interventions at the 2010 time frame regulated the company's to more accurately represent the actual speed on a vehicle guess this included BRP

might check the actual verses gps on both units and you will indeed find the difference
