• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Question about a high idle

I have a 2008 GS, SM5 and I purchased it new way back when. I know that I read early on about something causing a high idle. Normally my spyder idles at 1500 rpm. Tonight when I almost rear ended a car, it was idling between 2500 and 3000. Most of the time when I come to a stop, the idle will lower within a minute. Tonight it took forever. I don't know if this is unique to the early GS model or not. That's why I posted here, trying to find out what may be wrong. In case I wasn't clear, I've had this problem since within months of purchase.

I would suggest check your vacuum hoses if not I might be your throttle body or your throttle ajustment if I remember it should idle at 900

Hi jtoro1,

Re: if I remember it should idle at 900

My '08 consistently idles from 1350 to 1450 RPM. I have read on here that is what they should do.

The 990's should idle at 1350 to 1450 RPM as you said.

The 1330's idle around 900 RPM.

:agree: ..... ABOUT THE VACUUM HOSES ( get silicone )...... But I doubt about the throttle adjustment ...... Mike

Definitely the most likely culprit, especially if they have never been replaced. Course some brake cleaning spray on the throttle body mechanism wouldn't hurt; and how long has it been since you've lubricated your throttle, clutch and other cables?????

Why the vacuum hoses, if the spyder idles around 1450/1500 most of the time?
