• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Purpose of the wire is?

While doing some maintenance, etc., the past few days on my 2009, RS SE5, I noticed that on the main battery ground (-) side there is a small wire connection with no wire attached to it.

I can see a small guage wire (I'm colored challenged and it looks green to me) a short distance down beside the battery that seems like it would or could or should be connected. The pic isn't crisp but views okay.

Any idea what the association between the connector on the battery terminal and the unconnected wire might be?

Thanks.

Looks red to me :dontknow:
Anyway if it is a red wire it should never be used for a ground wire. Did you buy the Spyder new?

I'm seeing red also... I think that red and green are two colors that can get a bit confusing if you have difficulties seeing colors... (I had a pal who couldn't see reds or greens, so he kept me around to prevent him from burning down his garage...)
You can't follow that wire any further down to see what it's heading towards?

I should have caught and clarified the wire showing in the pic is not the "green" i was referring to. It is hanging/sticking out down beside the battery. I couldn't get in close enough to get a pic of it.
The red one in the pic is bundled together in a harness sort of way going I assume into the center channel.
Sorry for the confusion.

If you bought it used I would say someone had an add-on grounded there & it was disconnected rapidly by a quick yank.
If you bought it new I would have no idea.

There was/is apparently some accessory that was grounded there. If you figure it out, I would suggest finding a proper ground location. Loosening the ground jumper terminal under the seat leads to all sorts of problems. If you need it, extend the wire and go back to the negative battery terminal, an auxiliary ground block, or a chassis ground.
