• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Pure confusion - what fuse to run for O2 Concentrator?

I want to run my oxygen concentrator off fuse #7 which is a 5 amp fuse. I suspect that a 10 amp fuse would not cause problems with the wiring since the wiring is almost certainly at least 18 ga which will handle anywhere from 10a - 16a depending on the temperature. Trying to find out the amp requirement for the concentrator has been interesting. On page 16 of the owners manual, it calls for a 15a fuse, min. There was a 20a fuse in the cable, so, OK. But on page 33 it calls for a 12a fuse. On page 39, it says max amperage is 10a. On the unit itself, it says input is 12 - 13.4 volts, 85 watts. At 12v, that would be 7.08 amps, and at 13.4, the normal running voltage, it would be only be 6.3 amps. Almost sounds like the book was written by BRP where nobody seems to know what is going on. I ran it in the car with a 10 amp fuse in it, and it ran fine, didn't blow the fuse. So, a 10 amp fuse in 7 should be OK. But, to use a little caution, I would like to use a 7.5 amp fuse. Don't actually know whether it will run on the 7.5, or just blow it. Don't have one to put in. What are every ones thoughts?:dontknow::popcorn:

BTW, a 20 amp slo blo bayonet fuse costs about $4.90 max. Same item, OEM, for the unit, it is $19.95.:gaah:

You could run a relay off the 5 amp fuse and get power for the high side of the relay directly from the battery. You can put any size wire or any size fuse you want to in the high side of the relay which will run your equipment. Your 5 amp fuse will control the relay power.
 
Just remember that the fuse does NOT protect your concentrator, it protects the Spyder, in case the concentrator fails.

To me, it sounds like a 10 amp fuse will do just fine. It will allow the concentrator run, but if something happens that it pulls a bit more current, the bike will be protected.

The concentrator had a 20 amp fuse in it, but I've run it with a 10 amp. The fuse I am interested in is the one protecting the Spyder. There was a 5 amp in the fuse position. Putting in a 10 amp might burn up wires if, and I don't think they did, had that circuit wired with 20 gauge.
 
You might want to run a separate fuse block run directly from the battery. This also bypasses the nanny. They are available commercially, ready to install, from places like Revzilla,
Electrical Connection and other sites. They range from about $60 and up for a complete unit with solenoid and fuse block. Or you can source the parts and put it together yourself for much less. My oxy-go (inogen one - 3) draws 50 watts on setting 2, add 25 watts if charging battery. Ie a 10 amp fuse would be minimum & 18 awg. We tapped Into aux posts in top left of '13 st frunk and added inline fuse to a handlebar mounted 12 vdc convenience outlet.
