Purchasing a used Spyder RT?

Thank you everyone for your feedback, I really appreciate it.

We're currently hunting a silver RT-S (2012) and a brown RT-LTD (2013) at our local dealer. He said he'd contact us this week with the best deal he could possibly give us on the machines. Either of them would have standard 3 year warranty and road assistance and he was going to try and cut prices and add extra accessories. These are still new machines so I'm kind of leaning towards the 2012 at this moment but it all depends on the price he's willing to give us.

He really needs the machines gone to make room for the new F3 in the showroom. Both machines are brand new but off course have the old engine. I look forward to hearing from him...

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm :3 I really appreciate the support! The 2012 should be affordable so I hope he comes through on his word and offers me a nice deal. At the moment the RT-S (2012) is priced at € 22.900 (28.113 dollar) which isn't too bad I guess but I expect atleast a € 1,000 discount... I'm a stubborn girl, haha~

By the way I must say these machines are quite pricey on this side of the globe... Instead of converting the price from dollars to euros they simply replace the currency sign and leave the numbers the same. Sneaky little youknowwhats...

Plan on a late Spring ride - Zurich to Turin. I did that years ago on a rented BMW - I'd love to do it on my Spyder!!!!

if you do a lot of riding you might want to look at a new one, the 1330 engine gets better mileage & being in europe your gas
is more then doubled ours in the states

Although I thought about that the price of a new or used 2014 or even a 2015 is very high up here. With the difference in price I could probably tank gas for 20+ years which is quite a lot. I figured I could always upgrade later on if I wished to do so. You never know what's in the future, who knows if I can still ride a vehicle in 20 years?

I would go for the 2012 in a heart beat. It's a great machine. The 2013 is just too iffy at any price!!!. BTW, i ship Seal Floorboards to the UK often. Good luck and.......

I would go for the 2012 limited if you can afford it. The 2012 was considered to be the best and most problem free of all the RT years, (until the 2014 can out). The 2012 Limited also has many nice features that the 2010 RT-S does not have. If you can get them to throw the warranty in do it, it is piece of mind, even if you don't need it.

:agree: I just traded in my 2010 RT S SE5 and it had a few issues covered under warranty.
at 25,000km I had to have the SE5 transmission rebuilt,clutch pack fell apart. The CB/Comm system caused electrical issues so do not buy CB/Comm system cause its not worth the money.
at 30,000km had to replace the two small vaccuum hoses near the exhaust headers but that maintenance.
My spyder had 35,00km when I traded it.

Be sure you get the benefit of BRP's rebate program, if it applies in Europe. I think it's up to $4000 here in the US for 2012 & 2013 models. No rebate yet on 2014s.

Thank you John! I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Handy to know you guys also ship to Europe, unfortunately there will probably also be a hefty tax involved. Just paid more than 100 dollar just to get an item released from customs, they really dislike people shipping things it would seem. *sigh*

We don't really have a rebate program. The price of the RT-S is already including some kind of discount (about € 3.000 I believe) so that might be the European equivalent.

So far I've heard nothing from the dealer. I've called them on Tuesday because they said they'd get back to me but apparently their sales manager had been sick on monday so not much to tell me yet. He told me he'd get back to me on Wednesday, Thursday the latest. No news yet and it's Friday. Not sure if I should call them again today asking if they got any news...not really happy with the lack of communication regarding a sale. It makes it seem like they don't want to sell at all. What are your thoughts?

No news from the dealer so far, not even to let me know they can't find a seller for my two-wheeler. I'm starting to give up hope...if they want to sell they better do a decent effort because so far I'm very dissapointed with the can-am dealers in the country. I don't want to have to deal with this every time I have an issue or need to get a maintenance done. *sigh*

My first spyder was a 2012RTS-SE5 I did not have any issues.

I took a test drive on a 2014RTS-SE6, in April ( in Springfield, MO @ Spyderfest) in July I bought a 2014RTS-SE6. I would buy a 2012RTS-SE5 if you can do it financially.

What a difference between the 2012RTSE5 and 2014RTS-SE6 , like night/day. Deanna

Not giving up hope just quite yet, I still have some fight left in me. That's why I also refuse to drive my car and insist on purchasing such an expensive machine on three wheels. It might turn out to be a stupid decision but atleast it will be MY stupid decision. You can't learn in life if you don't atleast make a few mistakes, right? Who knows I might not even end up making a mistake.

Financially it will probably take me 5+ more years before I can purchase a Spyder from 2014 or newer with the newer engine so either I suck it up or I go crazy and purchase that beautiful new Spyder RT-S from 2012 that the dealer wants to get rid off. He offered me a deal of about 21k euro for the machine including 500 euro worth of accessories/clothing and 4 years of warranty. It doesn't sound like a bad deal at all but I'm having trouble letting my two-wheeler go.

When I traded in my 2010 for the 2014; that was the toughest part of the deal...
