There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Purchasing a new RTS

I have a new rts and the only thing i have noticed is the fuel guage moves around a bit but still seems to give an acurate reading steering is very good.Still seems a little hard on fuel but only have 2200 kms on it yet and it seems about same mileage as gold wing trike. went through 3 rain showers the other day and only got rain on face shield.Get your new spyder you will love it. GL

There is a warranty repair to replace the bouncing gas gauge with one that reads steady.

Hey Threewheels,
How did you get your dealer to do the alignment? Did he do it as a warranty repair? Although quite a bit of my handling problems went away with replacement of the rear shock, air bag, and air manifold with assorted fittings I still think it needs an alignment. How do I convince them to do it?

Thanks
Dwight

Another Florida girl here...

I, too, am from FL and I don't know if I want to be called middle-aged, but my youngest just graduated from college this week, so I probably am...

Anyway, I just purchased my RTS SE5 two weeks ago and have had a mixed experience. It has already been in the shop for one of those two weeks to fix the creep/stall clutch issue and bouncing gas gauge. They still aren't done with it and now have to wait another day to order parts since BRP is closed on Mondays... I am new to motorcycling, so I can't compare it to two wheels, but I was really loving the ride for the few times I was able to take it out before the problems arose. I know I took a risk with purchasing a "first year vehicle", so I am trying to be overly patient (not easy for me!). Keeping up with my husband on his Harley is one of my goals, too...

I think alot of the good and bad experiences we see on this site have to do with the dealer we are working with. There are obviously thousands of new owners who aren't all having mechanical problems. I am waiting to pass judgement until I see how they fix my new toy. You are lucky you were able to do a test drive. None of the dealers in my area of south Florida would allow a test drive AT ALL, due to "insurance issues". I had to fill out all the paperwork to buy it, then take it on a test drive. If I didn't like it, they would rip up the docs, but I loved it, so took it home.

I too sat on the RS and RT and they are like apples and oranges. I totally agree with your assessment of how the seats felt, as I am only 5'3" and felt so much more comfortable on the RTS. I would NOT recommend buying the RS and modifying it, trying to feel more like the RTS, unless you can find someone who did so, can ride theirs and you love it...

PM me if you would like to know more and good luck with your decision.

Not to hijack the thread.........................

Yes it was a warranty repair. My dealer had a Demo from the factory that handled quite well. When riding mine, and then the demo, and then mine again, it was very obvious that SOMETHING was wrong.

Check your tire pressure. Many have suggested that increasing the tire pressure to 20 PSI or higher improves handling by stiffening the side walls. That was my first pass as well.

I think that's just a stop gap fix. I found with a proper alignment, the opposite is true. Too high a pressure rounds out the tire profile and reduces the contact patch making the bike twitchy. I'm running 17 psi in the front and 28 in the back. I wouldn't suggest anything higher, even for two up. Of course, some will complain that the lower tire pressure makes it difficult to turn the wheels with the bike at a dead standstill. This is true, but in my opinion, it's worth the trade-off to get high speed stability.

Please feel free to PM me or start another thread so we don't take up Florida girl's space.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

Can you enlighten me regarding your "creep-stall" issue?

It may be the same issue I am bringing my RTS SE in for. I have about 400 miles and the problem was very bad on Friday-come to stop and it feels like it still wants to go than stalls. Today I rode a 100 miles through a lot of small towns with lights and stop signs and it was perfect. The transmission shifted crisply and so on. There also was no gas smell at all even when I first filled up. Could any of the issues be weather dependent? I think it is going to be next to impossible to diagnose the problem since it may not stall at all even if they take it out for a lengthy ride.

Let me know if the problem sounds the same, and if so what their fix will be.

Thanks

We are in Tampa IM us and we will give you a reputable dealer - #1 in BRP's southern area (thats Ca to FL. Techs are good too.

We ordered our Orbital Blue RT-S SE5 April 26. Got a call from the dealer that it arrived yesterday and we should be able to take delivery Thursday or Friday after they install our CB/Comm and Zumo 660 GPS!:2excited:

Now if we could just get our Can-Am ST-1 helmets before June!

Thank you everyone!!!

Wow, thanks so much to all of you!!! Reading all of your messages has made me more excited than ever to make my purchase!!! I have gotten great information from ALL of your posts and now feel armed and ready to visit my next dealership! It's great to hear that there are so many satisfied Spyder owners out there ready and willing to help others make an informed decision. I am going to try and take some test rides very soon. Unfortunately we are leaving here for the season but will be back again next fall. Still trying to decide if I should wait for the 2011's and purchase when I get back down here next fall (that would mean no summer riding. Yikes!) or buy in Jersey over the summer. Does anyone know of any changes for the 2011 RTS? If I wait until we get down here again next fall we will not have to trailer the bike. (We trailer my husband's Harley and it may be a little tight trying to trailer the larger Spyder along with the Harley) Also, there may be some changes to the 2011 that would make the handling problem some have go away?! If anyone knows anything about next years model please let me know. I appreciate all of your help so very much. Everyone has been fantastic here! Thanks so much!!!!
Oh and by the way . . . .A message to Spydergirl . . . . yes it is me! Thanks so much for your great recommendation! The information I have gotten here has been wonderful and very encouraging! Thanks again so much!!! Will keep you all posted. Looking forward to showing off my new bike here soon!!!!!

I'm 5'10" tall and hit the scales at 250. Would anyone care to comment on what the front load setting should be for someone my size? Just noticed the comments on setting the front stiffer making a difference in cornering.

I have 10 lbs and 2" on you and my settings are, front tires 20 psi and front suspension set at 4 of 5. My shocks are set at 4 of 5. My rear tire at 27 psi and rear suspension 65 psi. Going to change rear suspension back to 68 psi, just felt best there.

I find it ideal there whether riding 1 up or 2.
