We recently made an adapter plug to pull the trailer with a Goldwing, since the Rt uses a seperate brake light for each side and could not find a reason for this so we adapted with an additional plug making a pig tail adapter so as not to alter the original wiring when pulling with the RT anyone interested we can send diagram, my question is {Maybe Lamonster Could Answer} how does the SM recognize the trailer ? the two spares , plus the backup light prong in the plug show NO continuity with each other or anything else, as in completing a circuit, the SE has to be put in trailer mode, not the SM. I know the Can Bus wiring could sense the additional load of tailights and recogmnize this way I am just wondering if someone can tell me how this works as touted by BRP as "Recognizing the trailer " in their adds.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I personally don't think it does. My opinion (which is not even worth 2 cents) is that it is hype, although it may originally havbe been planned that way. Of course the SE will "recognize" the trailer if you tell it to. I don't see a reliable way to do this without separate wiring, since the trailer module separates the lighting wiring from the Spyder circuits. I suppose they could monitor the trailer module power, but if they need a sensor to know there is a passenger aboard, you would think they would need some wires to tell the trailer is attached. You would also think that if they could sense a trailer, there would be no reason to set "trailer mode" on the SE manually. Just my thoughts...
