• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Pulling a trailer

about 2 to 3 weeks ago I posted a question on buying some cheaper saddlebags for my 2008 GS and i got a lot of info from you guys and gals. I have not bought any yet and my wife and I are going on a big trip at the end of Aug. So my question is I am leaning to the CAN AM factory bags but as you know they are pretty exspensive, so I am looking at spending a little more and buying a trailer to pull behind my 08 GS. Please if you can give me some info on how your GS or RS has handled a trailer and how you like to pull a trailer. Also what brand of hitch did you put on and where did you get the wiring harness for the lighting. Thank you so much in advance Troy.

I just got a rt622 trailer to go behind my RT Limited & I think she doesn't even know its back there......... pulls great,,,,,,,, I was running 80+ & has no *wiggle* at all

Get the trailer.

You will not be sorry. You will never know it is there. Get the BRP hitch and wiring harness, this is a must.

I had a 2008 GS that I used a Harbor Freight trailer
Did not know it was there
Now I have the 2014 RTL with the RT-622 trailer
Get The BRP hitch it comes with the wiring harness
By the time you buy the aftermarket hitch and wiring harness separate, the BRP hitch is not that much more.
The BRP hitch is better
If money is an object the Harbor Freight trailer works great, it does not weigh much and is only about $400

Does BRP offer a hitch for the '08 GS?

Choices choices..!!

pulling a trailer with your GS is not the problem. How often you need that much space is. Will you need less space more often for your short trips..?? So will you be better off with Givi, Kappa or brp bags that are removable if not needed. I see more and more trailers for sale with maybe one trip on them. If you have the space to store the trailer then it helps but wiegh the log trips and the short...

I do not think there is factory Trailer wiring available for the 08 GS. I do not be leave the BRP hitch has changed, the wiring has (you might be able to adapt it). There are a lot of 08 and 09 GS owners out there that pioneered pulling trailers. They will jump in here and help. :chat:

Check out the sponsors on the home page you should find aftermarket hitches and lighting isolaters. Make sure the trailer you get has LED lighting on it as the GS does not have an over abundance of electrical power available.:banghead:

Good Luck

I had an '08 GS with the BRP hitch and a Harbor Freight Tag a long trailer. With a discount coupon (20%) the trailer's cheap. I put 12 inch wheels on it, and LED lights...the original lights were okay, but the original wiring used Scotchlocs for splices, which gave me a lot of intermittant grounds and blown fuses.
I used a Hopkins powered converter, which isolates the trailer lights from the Spyder's lights, so no problems with the Can Bus. Suggest using Positaps to make connections.
The trailer went to a couple of Spyderfests, and many other trips other places, it's in my garage right now, and goes behind my RT nicely.

NO

Does BRP offer a hitch for the '08 GS?
BRP has never recommended the GS/RS for towing ......that being said I have used both without any problems ........The swing arms on all the Spyders are the same so the BRP hitches will fit any Spyder ......................................I went a different rtoute and built all three of mine .......:thumbup::thumbup:.....Mikeguyver
