• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Pulling a Spyder

Was wondering if anyone has THOUGHT of pulling a Spyder with a receiver hitch bracket like they use on a tow truck. I`m thinking you drive the wheels in the bracket then lift up stamp the front wheels and pull with the rear tire on the ground. I have a 2011 auto.<br>

Bad idea, in my book. The transmission gears moving without an oil feed in a dry sump engine would likely cause damage in pretty short order. Removing the belt might resolve that, but it is a pain, and would require removing the rear wheel at both ends of the journey...and adjusting the belt tension and tracking. One owner tried a tow dolly, but was not successful and recommmended against it. Buy a small trailer. JMHO.

I agree.

A trailer is cheaper and easier than repairing a Spyder

If you do this REMOVE the windshield ! ! ! .........:yikes:......Mike

I have been thinking about doing the same thing with the rear wheel jacked up in the air, on a pivotal ramp that's built into the receiver hitch... In case of a breakdown.

:agree:

The best way to go on this, get a trailer. if you lift the front of the Spyder, with the belt on, the transmission will suffer from a lack of lube. If you lift the back the first good bump you hit will damage the underside of the frunk - lack of clearance. The plus side of this, trailers can be useful for other things than hauling Spyders.

Summary

So if you want to take your Spyder on a trip you have two choices

A. ride it

B. Trailer it

Do not plan on dolly towing forwards or backwards!

i agree with this because I bought mine to ride!
