There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Pulleys?

Drifter.

Does anyone make different pulleys for an F3 to lower the cruise RPM? Are all the 3 cyl Spyders geared the same? If not will the pulleys interchange?

PULLEY'S

...There is a company in Germany that makes High quality pulley for the front Sprocket that are larger.......They were made for the 998 series engine....whether they would fit the 1330 shaft I don't know.............Mike ...... PS, I think someone in Australia had a thread going about this subject .

Do you have North American F3 or an international one?

NA versions of the F3 have a larger 89 tooth rear sprocket, making a lower rear ratio. The international version and all other Spyder have a 79 tooth rear sprocket.

If you have the NA version the common 79 tooth sprocket will fit. But as reported by BRP and experienced by an international poster when the sprockets are swapped. A wheel speed, engine rpm mismatch error will occur. I have not seen anyone getting around this problem yet.

Mike makes a good point. You could try changing the front sprocket for a bigger one. The OE part numbers are the same for both engine types so should fit the triple.

F-3

...Billy, since the poster lives in Fla. I would think He has the NA version....................Mike

Would the NA belt need to be changed to run the smaller pulley? The error code should......be a simple reflash to the other standard or a reboot?? Then again I have no idea with all the electronics on these things. What has been tried and failed, can you still ride with the error code or does it effect the system as a whole?

Correct me if I am wrong, this pulley change would be somewhere around 350-400 fewer RPM in top gear. This would change the ride and feel quite a bit should help mileage as well.

Yes Florida is in the southern....north American zone. ;)

If you swap an RT rear pulley onto your F-3; you'll need to change belts...

Just use an RT Belt!
Part numbers:
Drivebelt for an RT:
705501304
Drivebelt for an F-3
705502157 North America
705501304 Australia

See: the Australian F-3s use RT gearings and belts...

I misread the catalog. Yes there are 2 different belts.

Think nothing of it...
Once you start looking at those parts schematics; it's pretty dang easy to get yourself confused... nojoke
One tooth up front might be easy to ignore... :D
But ten teeth out back...

That WILL require a re-thinking of your choice in belts.

Why not just try a taller tire? I use a 5% taller tire on my 2012 RT with no ill effects, well it makes the speedo read equal with the GPS. You could try a 10% taller tire.

What got me is when you look at the exploded view. The 2 rear sprockets have 2 different item numbers. When you look at the belt there is only 1 item number. Under the listing that item number has 2 parts numbers.

:yikes: I know...

They must have out-sourced the French-Canadian to English translation, to a company in Thailand...

...Who then sold the project off to some Nepalese!

....I also have the TALLER TIRE ( 215/60-15 )......However I doubt a larger TIRE than that could work, it just wouldn't fit in the space that's there.................never mind any NANNY issues........jmho.....MIke

I wonder if we could talk someone with a new RT and F-3 (And a bike lift!), into performing some parts swapping in the name of science...
I wonder if an RT might get better fuel mileage, with lower gearing?
And would an F-3 enjoy the same gains; with some taller gears? :dontknow:

I would think that Lamont could easily answer this question. Sounds like it would be an easy software update as it is obviously available at the factory.

This would be a perfect mod done at his LaMonster Garage.

Swap pulleys and belt along with a software up date.

I suspect that it would be no more than a simple phone call for him as he is clearly plugged in to those in the know.

Hard to say, not having an F3 but much simpler than the computer problems. I am happy with the way the 5% larger
works.

Also look at the thread posted 25/01/2015 F3
it has a few charts on final drive ratios and part numbers to convert.
not sure if the original poster went through with the conversion?
not sure how to add link
