There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Pull Behind Trailers

I've been pulling a trailer of similar size to the BRP offered trailer since I got my PE Spyder. It has almost no effect on gas mileage, even when fully loaded. Changing to a larger windshield is the only thing that has lowered my my mileage by anything that was significant and repeatedly measurable.
Can you tell me how much your windshield change affected your mileage? What size shield did you put on? Thanks!

I have looked at the Uni-Go trailer also. My only issue with it was the fact it is designed to lean into a turn and drive the load down into the "standard" round motorcycle wheel/tire. With the Spyder it would seem to be side loading the connection joint and the wheel/tire. Since most of the weight travels low in the trailer it probably wouldn't be a major issue unless there was something of some weight loaded up high causing the top to twist the u-joint connector during turns/lane changes.

That being said, I have been looking at this http://theusatrailerstore.com/rally-wagon.html trailer for many of the same reasons. I like the fact I can haul the bag in on overnight stays and there is nothing, but an empty flatbed to worry about behind my Spyder. It's not as stylish as the Uni-Go, but it is the way I am leaning right now.

Stay on topic? Says who?

Sorry Texas, I can't help you much. Out of all the replies you've received, only one tried to answer the actual questions you asked instead of trying to change your mind to do what they've done. I'd recommend you contact Uni-Go directly and ask if they recommend their trailer be used with the Spyder. Tell them that the trailer hitch is axle mounted, as that may make a difference in the amount of vibration the trailer receives through the hitch. If they don't recommend it, you might then look at some of the other suggestions.

This is Spyderlovers! No one expects the thread to stay on topic. That's the whole idea. It might get addressed, and often it does, then it takes on a life of its own.

Enjoy!

You would really be hard put to beat the price, even with shipping added!:D My trailer, pictured below, which I built myself to pull behind my Goldwing and plan to pull now with my Spyder, cost me something on the order of $1400. I did all the work myself except welding, which a retired welder friend did for me in exchange for a token gift, and the powder coating which I paid for. I have the same axles on it as the Rally Wagon has. I like the open trailer idea. I've always said I want a trailer that if I want to haul a washing machine home from Lowe's with it, I can!:ohyea:

That is a good looking trailer, and the price is nice. I'm sure it's built to last forever, but 170 lbs empty? If you end up getting it, I'm sure you'll love it for your needs. However, I'm looking for something I can easily move around and get into motel rooms, so it needs to be fairly light and narrow. I'm not worried about the weight in the trailer doing damage. The Uni-Go is only 70 lbs. I'm fairly certain the trailer would start to slide around the corner before tearing up anything mechanical. There wouldn' be enough weight in the trailer to force that kind of damage. I think the maximum load is maybe 140lbs, but I would never be putting more than 100 lbs in the trailer.

Mileage change

Can you tell me how much your windshield change affected your mileage? What size shield did you put on? Thanks!
Put on the big barn door "CHAD" windshield which is no longer available. It is 27 in. wide and 25 in. tall. It can cut my mileage by about 2 mpg. It has an adjustable mount which I further modified so that it is almost as adjustable as the MAD STADD windshield mount. If I have it in the "summer" position for just me it has little on no mileage effect. When I put it all the way up and forward so that my wife doesn't get bobble head and can hear me on the intercom then it drops my mileage. I was trying to let the person who started this thread know that he did not need to get a smaller trailer to keep his mileage up as two up and a fully loaded trailer never had any effect on my mileage. The trailer he is looking at is a very nice quality product. I have seen several over the years pulled behind two wheelers. The was a uni-go trailer at the owners event in Durango last time. I took some pictures of it. I think it was behind a Goldwing.

Do you have to modify the electrical connection to connect to the BRP trailer hitch?

Thanks

If it is the square four plug from BRP Walmart has the four square plug and the four flat if it is a non BRP Trailer

Hopkins 11147975 for the 4 Pole Square Set
Hopkins 638175 Northern Tool - four wire flat
Hopkins 48215 Walmart - four wire flat
just match the wire colors, crimp them at various lengths and a little electrical tape. Whole thing less than $20.00.
