pull 622 with goldwing

I am looking for a substitute for the $139 BRP harness to connect my wife's CanAm trailer to my goldwing. I see that it is a 9 pin round connector. Do any of you know if it is the same layout as the 9 pin connector used for truck? It looks to be the same, but I cannot find dimensions for the truck connector.

It's a different plug. The standard truck plug is 7-pin.

What is a possible logic:dontknow: or reason for BRP designing such an odd ball trailer wiring device? Why could one not take the existing harness, cut it and insert the standard 4 wire flat plug into the system?

You could definitely wire a 4-wire plug into the 2011 RT-622 trailer. Whether or not you can do this readily with a 2010 trailer, that is set up as 5-wire, is not as certain, but I believe it can be done. You would have to verify that it worked correctly. Some jumper wires would tell the tale quickly. It should be possible, since the right and left brake light circuits are separated on the Spyder and the trailer. You could even leave the original connector on there, for use with a Spyder when wanted. I rewired my Aspen Sentry camper this way, so it can be used with either my wife's car or my Spyder.
