• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Good day to all,
I have been riding Harley for over 45 years. Now my knees are getting bad and the muscles just won't hold up 800 pounds so I am looking at 3 wheels. I just can't see paying what they want for a HD trike with all the doodads that come standard on a Spyder, and I like the looks and style of the Spyder.
I am looking at used bikes (RT) and would appreciate any input anyone can give me as to what to look for, and what to look out for.
I am in NE Ohio (Ashtabula), so if anyone knows of a good buy near here I would appreciate the lead, and any input on dealers in the area.
Thanks in advance for your help. I figured the best place to get reliable information is from the people who own one.

Depending on your budget

2012 RT series, all have had good revues and limited problems probably the best year pre 2014 :thumbup:

2013 RT series, Great Spyders but many, many of them have or had heat issues and are hard to recommend. :lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie:

2014 RT series, you can't go wrong with his year as almost all of them have been exceptionally good Spyders and with the larger engine they are keepers.:thumbup::thumbup:

This is strictly my thoughts as i have had one of each year.

Welcome..!!

to this site..you can check here for RT's for sale then ebay as well. Check the dealers in your area for trade in and there are new ones from years past. Happy hunting..:2thumbs: hope to see you out there soon...

:welcome:

I have a '14 RTS and highly recommend it. But coming from HD you should also look into the new model, F3, with a more cruiser-like experience.

I think you'll really like the 2014 RTs with 1330 triple and six speed transmission -- RT-s or RT Limited should have what you seek. And there's always the opportunity to farklize.

Even the base RTs have all the needed accessories - radios, cruise control, adjustable windshield, & heated grips. The Base does NOT have the front fenders with the hard to clean welt, the push button rear suspension (you have to manually adjust the rear suspension), or the $1000 BRP floorboards, with few places to move big feet (better than pegs tho). In most areas, you can buy a new 2014 BASE for the price of a used 2012 LTD..

You should be able to buy a quality ride in the neighborhood of $18000. Shipping one from FL or TX to your home would add $800 or less.

:welcome:

I have had three RT's. See signature below for details.

All have been/are keepers. My current favorite is the 2014 RTS. Have not had either 2012 or 2013. Most recommend avoid 2013 if you have a choice. Heat issues were a major concern.
