• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I had to get a new spare key the other day, for my RT. Took key to Hardware store and had it cut. Now it needs to be programed. Dealer says instructions are in owners manual....no true!
Does anyone know how or know where the instructions can be found.

You will need a master key to do it yourself, some hardware stores can do it.:ohyea:

What year is your Spyder?
:agree: :dontknow:

Without that information; it's tough to offer any advice.
But; the 2008 to 10213 bikes are a bit easier to deal with, and you CAN just clone a key...
The 2014s require being hooked up to BUDS...

...and no cloning! :gaah:

Sorry, it is a 2012 RT A&C.

Yes, I got the $49.95 key from my Spyder Dealer and I do have one of the original keys.

Then you you need to take the new key, the Spyder and all keys you want to keep working back to your dealer. He will program the Spyder to accept the new key and the lost key and other keys that are not present will be deleted.

Great, I will have to call him. He called someone and they told him the instructions were in the owners manual, so obviously he is not aware of how to program it. Thanks for your help.

To add or reprogram a key, carry out the following steps:
1. Insert an already programmed functional key
into the ignition switch.
2. Turn the ignition key to ON.
3. Turn the ignition key to OFF.
4. Press MODE button for 3 seconds.
5. Wait 5 seconds.
6. Remove programmed key.
7. Insert MASTER KEY (P/N 529 036 106).

NOTE: The master key is purposely “not cut” and will not turn in the ignition switch.
1. No notches
2. RED colored

8. Wait until the cluster displays MASTER.
9. Remove the master key.
10. Insert a key to program.
11. Turn ignition switch to ON.
12.Wait until cluster displays NEXT KEY.
13. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
14. Press MODE button for 3 seconds.
15. Remove key.
16. Insert next key to program.
17. Turn ignition switch to ON.
18.Wait until cluster displays NEXT KEY.

NOTE: If there are at least 2 keys programmed and you do not wish to program more keys (4 maximum), leave the last programmed key in the ignition switch. If you wish to program another key, repeat the previous five steps.

19.Wait until cluster displays SUCCESS.
20. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
21. Remove key.
Key programming procedure is complete.

The list of instructions given by Bob is correct. A little point that I missed the first time I did that was that the "already programmed functional key" that you use to start the process must also be put through the learning process or it will not work with the bike.

Bob or others, does this work for the RS models also???:hun:

Does the dealer do this procedure? Or, do you purchase the master key? If you purchase, how much is it?

Someone who has a master key has to do it. You can purchase them online, I think I paid around $30 for mine. If you do a search on the forum, the part number has been posted more than a few times.
