• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Problem on 1st Ride!

I drove my :spyder: from the dealer and she rode fine for the first 10 miles. I put unleaded regular gas in (stupid dealer gave me 1/3 tank!) and got on the highway. Right away she started to sputter when I got around 5k RPM in any gear. I couldn't take it over 52 MPH without a sputter. The oil light came on. I stopped, pulled over and let her sit for a bit. I also checked that the gas cap was tight and that oil levels were fine. After 10 minutes, I started her up again. Same problem but now the check engine light was on. At this point, I'm crying like someone stole my cookie. I get ready to call for a tow and decide to give it one more try. All the warning lights are off and she drives like a champ. A few hundred miles later, still no problem.

Any ideas? I know the dealer said they had the battery disconnected for awhile so I may need to keep her running for a bit. Bad gas perhaps? Either way, it's not a great feeling to have to drive with my hazards 20 MPH below the speed limit on my inaugural ride. :(

I would take it back to the dealer and have them hook it up to the BUDS and see what the error codes read. Not good for a first ride. :(

I agree- get her back to the dealer.

Probably was the battery not having enough charge to keep the system running correctly.... hook up a tender and keep that charge up.

It is my understanding that these machines can get squirrly if the battery isn't fully charged.

my dealer here in wisconsin said if your getting any kind of a fault reconized in the computer system your machine goes into a limp like mode and wont go over 40mph according to my dealer. maybe your computer is getting a signal something is wrong and its in limp mode till there is a correction. hope things work out for you!!!!!

Sounds a lot like my first day [and a number more since!], in that my first stop on my first day out, with about a dozen folks gathered round to see it, one asked me to start it up so they could hear it run -- about 15 minutes later, I got it to "turn on" and start up! That was in November. It left me driving a car to Bike Week, in two shops for two weeks, and now with Barber's fast coming up -- it is back in again with the same kind of ignition symptoms. Good luck.
