Probably a dumb question, but.......

First of all, I'm not a real techy type person. I know that I can get my smart phone to bluetooth to my Zumo 660 and the phone will work through the gps. Is there any way that I can get the Pandora app on my phone to bluetooth to my gps so I can listen to that music with wired earbuds?

Not a dumb question. Bluetooth protocols can be confusing. I've never tried to do what you are asking, but I doubt that it will work. Streaming music uses a different protocol from phone data - A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Protocol). I don't think the Zumo is capable of receiving that. But even if it could, the Zumo GPS is not capable of stereo sound, so your music would sound rather flat.

Some Bluetooth headsets (like the various Sena models) would be capable of pairing to both your GPS and your phone in both phone and music protocols. Then you could listen to music and also control your phone with the headset . The inputs would also be prioritized. In other words, a GPS announcement would supersede music audio, and a phone conversation would superseded both.

Thanks for the reply Bob. I did purchase a Sena a while back and installed it in/on my helmet. Honestly, I have heard better sound out of 2 tin cans with a string stretched between them like when I was a little kid. I was so disappointed that I pulled the unit and speakers off of my helmet and quit using it. I can hear the FM radio through the stock speakers with decent tone even when wearing earplugs but I'd like to use my Shure noise cancelling ear phones for music and for the turn by turn commands from the gps. Everybody is really hot on the bluetooth wireless connectivity but I used to ride with the wired ear plugs all the time on my last bike. The sound is top notch on these things. Maybe I am just expecting too much out of the Sena headset speakers.:banghead:

I bought the Sena headsets and the Sena Bluetooth adapter. I installed it on my RT which is no small job. I did all the required updates on the headsets and installed them on two helmets. Powered up the RT and only got the left channel unless I held the connector into the adapter. Took it all apart again and installed a second harness. Both left and right worked on the second harness. Plugged my radar detector into the adapter and it damaged my Passport 9500ix. I got another adapter but have never used it. I took it all apart again and removed the Bluetooth adapter and the harness. I hooked up my hardwired headset back up and appreciated them a whole lot more than before. Anyone want to make an offer ?

I have not been able to stream music from my phone through the 660. To solve this I loaded a bunch of music on a sd card and put it in the 660. Works great.

Now for the blue tooth helmet system. Sena makes a quality product and the 660 transmits in stereo. To achieve good quality sound,the ear speakers must be placed directly over the ear canal. a little off and they sound like "tin cans".

I personally use a Interphone f3s helmet communication system and appreciate the quality performance. hyea:

Frank - I hadn't thought of the SD card option. I guess that I was trying to get a good bit of variety in the music with Pandora but I could do that with what I download. Is there any limitations on what size SD card the 660 will take? I know some electronic devices do not support the large cards.

Sorry for the misinformation. I never looked at the specs, but it does not output stereo music into my RT's audio system, so I assumed it was not capable of stereo. Perhaps it's not the fault of the GPS, but the way that Can Am interfaced with it.

I know finless (Bob) has commented on this also. Perhaps if he sees this thread, he can clarify.

The GPS may output stereo but the connector to the radio is a mono input.

In this video I tested this connection for stereo and I show that in fact the GPS audio input to the radio is mono.

Yes there is a size limitation, I do not have a definite answer, but... you are safe with a 8gb and a 16 should work, and that is a Micro SD card
