Price increase on Spyder

Anyone else had there price increased when they went to pick up there Spyder? I was told price was $14999.00 plus freight, prep, and doc fee's. I am now being told that the price went up $500 bucks December even though I ordered mine in October, they also increased shipping from 499 to $950 and prep went from $199 to $499. I don't under stand the increase but was told to take it or leave it. They said the demand was so high for one that they could sell it to someone that would pay the increases. I will just suck it up and take it but won't buy my helmets from them like I had planned.

Didn't you get a guaranteed price at the time that you put your deposit down? You should have gotten some kind of receipt showing the price of the vehicle, along with their obligation to supply you the Spyder at that price. Either way, I would steer clear of that dealership! :(

We only got a price written on there business card and onother paper just showing the deposit. Either way I am stuck and not going to turn down a premier edition. I am counting down the days, picking it up from Seminole Powersports.

PLEASE tell me where Seminole Powersports is so If I'm ever in the area I can avoid them at all costs. Oh .. by-the-way, what makes you think these people are going to guarantee you a premier edition?!! Be prepared for a let down....!

I hate to say it - but you got screwed. I had read about similar stories and was worried my dealer might try the same crap. I gotta hand it too them though, they were straight up and honest about it. They told me on one of my visits that the price had gone up but I was locked in because of when I put my deposit down. I'm not trying to be snotty - I'm really only replying to this because you are close by and might want to give these guys a chance. They are Central Florida Powersports on S. Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee. I think they are the only other Spyder dealer in the Orlando area.

Good luck,

Sorry to hear that. My dealer honored my contract, ordered last august no price increase for me.Stay clear of this guy.Get your spyder, put her in first and go, and dont look back.Regards from the Oregon Coast

The dealer is in Orlando and called Seminole Powersports. I had full plans on buying two new helmets, headsets, full riding gear there. We had put back and extra $1500.00 to take with us when we went to get the Spyder to buy everything we needed, guess I will spend my money else where. Either way by saturday 10am I will have a black and silver spyder loaded and headed back to Tennessee via Myrtle Beach Bike week. . I might be walking funny from getting screwed by the dealer but it is a small price to pay for my own spyder.

I agree with these other guys. It sounds like your dealer can sell them at the higher price so he is pressuring you to pay more than you really should be paying. My wife and I each ordered a Spyder and had deposits down by August of 2007. There was a price increase by BRP right around that time or maybe the beginning of the year but, because we had reserved ours before the increase, our dealer honored the initial price even though we took delivery in March of this year. It sounds like you are doing the only thing you can to show your disproval by taking the rest of your business elsewhere. Happy Spydering and have fun at Myrtle Beach Bike Week!

:spyder: :doorag:

Surprised to hear that Seminole Power Sports is treating you badly. I bought my Spyder from them and it went very smoothly. I did have an Order to Purchase document with all the various elements priced out, and when I picked the machine up, the numbers were exactly the same. Sorry you have had such a poor experience. Good luck with your Spyder. It's a great machine.

I'm picking up mySpyder this weekend... Whoo Hooo.. $1000 down. $15049 due at pick up.
I'm sure that includes the shipping and assembly. But probably not the tax. Usually the DMV gets that at registration.
So is $16049 (inludes $25 for 12v adapter) the price everyone else pays?

Cisaacs and Sopher, You are going to have so much fun.The spyder just kinda grows on you.Welcome to SpyderWorld.

I would suspect the dealer assumed that since you from out of town, the'd never see you again. Thus he jacked up the price. What dealers fail to understand is reputation is more important then a quick buck. As a result noone from this forum is liklely to use him fro service or for accessories. Your loss, there loss. Good luck, there are good dealers out there, if we rate them on this forum perhaps we'll make a difference.
What about it Lamonster? Add a dealer rating process to the sticky area?

cisaccs, you are getting pooched. Write BRP and detail everything the dealership is trying to do to you. Make sure you courtesy copy both the Florida Consumer Affairs Department, the Tennessee Consumer Affairs Department, the Federal Trade Commission and the dealer. It is amazing what the threat of bad publicity will do.

:agree: that's all just messed up man!

I got my silver spyder at April 14 for $14999 plus freight & prep $42.3 documentation fee $55 tax $1245.45 dmv $153
tire recycle fee $5.25 total $16500 out of door in LA CA. I think you pay way too high for the freight and prep.

Oh, and cisaacs, also let the dealer know you have raised the issue here. From what others have also said, there is another dealer nearby. See if they will honor the original price quoted, then get your deposit back, and go with the other dealer. Once you have, let the original dealer know WHY. Sorry to hear he is trying to give you the gears. How much did you deposit? How did you pay the deposit (please don't say cash!)? In any event, you DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT FROM HIM. In fact, you can give it back just as bad by acting in your own interest, and going elsewhere for sales and service.

This is the dealership that added a grand onto the price I had negotiated with them. After a run around we split the difference and I paid $500 over the original invoice. They short changed me with dealer prep but offered to make good on it. I declined and did it myself. Other than that they were decent to deal with and probably better than most of the other stealers.

Was reading on what you are going through, because I order a red and black one on 4-25 and didn't get a
receipt for the out the door price they quoted me on it. I just called the dealer in San Antonio to send me something stating that 17800 was the price I agreed to pay when I put down my $1000 deposit. Don't want
to be surprise to see that the price had increased. Hope to hear back form them soon and hope to be riding
my spyder before Aug. 31. My wife doesn't ride with me on my h-d ultra, to scared but is will to ride on the
spyder. Hope you can resolve your price increase. :doorag:

Waited for a year for this call. Been in the big sand box for awhile and could not find anyone that would take a long distance call to place my order. Glad I'm back in Colorado. Just heard that my Spyder (Silver and Black) is in and ready for pickup. I started in Feb 07 with a base price of $14999 and will walk out the doors at $15431 after all of the Tax, Prep and Insurance is added on. Xtream Performance Center in Castle Rock, CO has been keeping it boxed up for my return. I know I wont be visiting Seminole Powersports in Fl. for anything. I've already collected 2k of add-on parts and a ton of helpful ideas from all of the post on this site. Now I'll spend a few weekends setting it all up to my liking.

Definitely log a complant with the FTC and state Consumer Affairs Department unless your willing to throw your money away.
