• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

price for a 2016 RT Limited in ont.canada

Canada Prices Suck

Here in BC your looking at $30,000.00 Canadian or more. 2014 left overs are in the high 20"s. Good luck.
I priced out 2 different F3's last July and both were over $30000.00 without the taxes. Its to bad a product made in
Canada costs more in Canada than the US. Its not just the exchange rate either. Hope you get one soon. Bob

I know I'm missing something simple; can you not come to the US, by the bike and drive it across the border to home???

There are even dealers who will ship to you from the US.

We buy our drugs from your web sites because it's cheaper, why not a Spyder from us???

I don't know how this all works, so forgive the stupidity... :opps:
What if you were to contact a dealer down here, and make a deal over the phone. When he gives you the V.I.N. of the bike; insure and register it. take the plates with you to the dealership, and ride the bike home...
Is that possible? It seems too simple... :dontknow:

[h=2]Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) registration fees[/h]Current fees for registering a U.S. imported vehicle in the RIV program are:

  • Vehicles entering the RIV program with a Vehicle Import Form - Form 1
$195.00 + GST and QST for vehicles entering through a border crossing in Quebec
$195.00 + GST/HST for vehicles entering through a border crossing in any other province
[h=3][/h][h=3]What are the duties and taxes involved in importing a vehicle?[/h]The Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) does not provide specific information on duties or taxes (in addition to GST). However, importing a vehicle involves paying the same taxes as you would if you bought the vehicle in your province of residence – Goods and Services Tax (GST), Provincial Sales Tax (PST) or Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), and other applicable taxes such as the excise tax on fuel inefficient vehicles and the air conditioning excise tax.

[h=2]GST[/h]The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is collected on all imported vehicles by the CBSA and is based on:

  • the current GST rate (5%), and
  • the U.S. sale price of the vehicle before any trade-ins (converted to CDN$)
    plus
  • any state or local sales tax paid (converted to CDN$)
    plus
  • any excise taxes or duties assessed by CBSA at the border.
  •
  • All of the above makes it clear as mud!!! Needless to say you aren't getting across the border easily or cheaply!! But I agree with the OP that a vehicle manufactured in Canada shouldn't cost more to Canadians then to those of us in the US.
  • (BRP you didn't hear this as a cart Blanche to increase your US prices:yikes::yikes::yikes:)

When a Canadian resident buys a new Spyder in the US. There is no warranty. Not even in the US. The same applies when a US resident buys in Canada. There are similar policies for most of the motor vehicle manufactures.

The dealer that sells a Spyder to a non-resident will be warned and will have the dealership taken away if it keeps happening.

The list price in Canada for a RT Limited 2016 is $34,649.00. Convert that to US funds would be $25,452.00. I cannot look it up because the BRP web site heads me off from looking up the US list price. But I will bet the US list is higher than that. Add in the extra cost of travel, paying sales tax a second time and the $200 import fee. It is a lot more expensive for a Canadian to buy a Spyder in the US, at this time. Not always the case.

Now used Spyders in Canada have gone way up in price. US dealers are buying them by the truck load here. Driving up the price. Warranty is not expected on used. The same is happening with pickup trucks and large SUV's. I know people that are trading 2015's for 2016's and paying $1,000 to $1,500 difference.

This is from the 2016 RT owners manual.

Cheaper for you to drive to Florida, buy the Spyder and the 2014 6×10 open trailer that I'm selling for $1000 (bought for $$1,450). Drive the Spyder back to Canada.

NEW OWNER OF 2016 Spyder RT LTD

WELL ITS DONE

Iam looking for a riding jacket.

1. has to be light weight
2. Wind proof with a high collar
3. Does not have to be water proof as the rain suit takes care of this.
4. Back of jacket has to protect the lower back and not ride up.

No leather

Cold up here in Canada so I wear a electric vest, pants.

Riding jacket has to go over vest.
THANKS for your help

I was at a dealer in NY during spyderQuest and was wondering about the differences in prices. He told me dealers in the states sign a contract saying they cannot sell to Canadian residents. No doubt for reasons mentioned above. Still sucks that we are paying more for a bike made right here.
