There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Base bike lacks the GPS, the rear shock's air adjustment system, the frunk luggage, liner and light, some extra gauges, the wider choice of colors, and a whole bunch of chrome parts and the new front fenders...
But the underpinnings are identical...

I have grown accustomed to the amenities on my 2010 RT-S. The current RTS pretty much matches them except for the chrome wheels and the GPS stuff. I am not going with the LTD version because I don't feel those two items are worth another $2K. That will be my pocketbook oriented vote.
The advantage of the three levels offered has to do with price levels. You can buy as little or as much as you want. Adding on farkles to attain the next level usually costs more than a package price.

Good question but I think you might find the answer a bit on the snobby side. When I bought my RTL I was willing to spend the small amount of difference so as not to have to play the add on game later. We got the Garmin, the useless bags, a cover, the fog lights, the optional bigger windscreen, the cruise control, and the only one in inventory at the time that was on sale. Have added a high mounted trunk light, front fender turn signal light kit and chrome mirror backs so it looks like a 2012, pin striped, painted the black tail section to match the rest of the bike, and wrapped the exhaust pipes to the cat joint. Also has the self leveling air compressor but I don't recall if that was a give me or an add on.
It really comes down to your financial and egotistical capabilities can stand. My next one if there ever is one would be another Rt or RTL SE

I bought a plain Vanilla RT because I did not need or want the addons of the RTS or LTD. The RTS would have been on my radar except the black rims. All the thug cars around here have black rims. Even if they offered the choice of painted silver rims I would've probably gone that route but they don't offer even if it is a cheaper rim. The only thing that those have that I wanted was the fog lights and I have already seen salvaged sets pop up and when the time is right I will grab them.
Bob you can't put a price on the fun you had farkling your ride and that is part of what I like. The RT now comes with cruise and radio/ipod and the auto ride control on the up levels is something waiting to go bad IMHO. The gauges are useless I prefer the digital ones in my display. I have no problem adjusting my pressure with the pump I carry. I saved $4-6k to buy the fog lights with. I am all about value( call me cheap I don't care):thumbup:

The 2014 RT-S doesn't have heated grips, a 12 volt plug or cruise control????
I just checked the Can Am web site, and I think all of the 2014 RT models have those things...am I wrong???

The base model doesn't. The S model has cruise, but not the heated grips or the 12- volt plug.

The standard RT has cruise and rider heated grips, AM/FM radio with iPod cable, and electric windshield. It is listed as having the 12V outlet.
The RTS adds adjustable rear suspension, rider footboards with SE6 transmission, the close-fitting front fenders, fog lamps and accent lights, heated passenger grips, front cargo light and liner, two-tone seat, and secondary gauges, as well as some differences in trim and wheels.
The LTD adds chrome front wheels, Garmin Zumo 660, embroidered seat logo, and front cargo travel bag. The SM6 transmission is not available on the LTD.

I have the 2014 RTS SE6 and it came with heated grips front & back, and a 12 volt plug in the back trunk, and I have to ask my dealer about the wires going into the seat, are they for a heated seat???? I don't have a heated seat, or do I ??? :dontknow::dontknow: It's only 7 day's old w/850 mi.

Since the heated seat is an option yours should have the wiring for it. I beleive that Can-am uses the same wire harness on all RT models.

Those wires under the seat are passenger identification module wires or something to that effect, lets the bike know you have a passenger .
