I will be divorced in one or two days. In view of all the stress I thought I would buy myself a present when it was over. I think it might be a Can Am Spyder. I need some advise about whether to get a RS or a ST. I like them both. The ST just came out so if I bought one of those it would have to be new. I can afford a new one but would like to have any input about buying a used one. In addition I would like to know about group rides. I live in Augusta, MO and there are nice places to ride. I have not riden a bike in many years so I will have to do some practicing. I have driven a RT and a STS a little and they seem pretty easy to handle. What is your advise about a stick or a semi automatic. I would enjoy hearing advise. Catman.

Well you have come to the right place. I have a SE5 semi-auto , and really like it, but lots of folks like the manual, it is a personal choice. You could probably get a great deal on a 2012 these days, but the ST is really nice, another personal choice. The only thing I can tell you for certain is that I think you will really enjoy the ride. I am sure others will give their opinions,but in the end, it will be you who will ride it, so test them before, listen to what is said here and then you can make an informed choice. This is both sad and happy. When I got divorced, I told my divorce attorney. "you know, I don't think I'll ever get married again" He said "I've heard that before, but I've learned that Spring is just around the corner." He was right. In the meantime, the Spyder may be just the ticket.

A lot of it depends on how you plan to ride. If you are planning on taking lots of long trips then you may want to get the RT. If shorter trips are in store the new ST is great and if you mostly plan on day trips the RS could be for you. Also, the riding position on the RT and ST is more upright than the RS.

Take a test drive on each and then let your checkbook be your guide. If you haven't ridden in a long time or ever and you aren't sure that you will really like it you may want to buy a used machine so you don't tie up too much money if you change your mind. There are lots of deals to be found on used machines.

Don't know about the divorce, could be happy could be sad, but the roadster will not replace a good woman. Now it will replace anything else. Now as for which one...it's a crap shoot. All good all have plus and minuses and in the end you and only you can decide. My wife and I love our RS manual. Now that is us....good luck...:thumbup:

Sorry about the stress in your life. My son went through the same thing in 2010 and bought a 2009 RS Spyder and loved it but now he has a new girlfriend and has to move up to an RT so you may want to plan ahead and just start looking for an RT to begin with with! Time heals all wounds! I also agree with the above comments in that if you are going to do long rides the extra comfort and storage room on the RT really comes in handy.

Hey neighbor, We have only owned the RT (2 times) and this is the only one I can comment on, but we love the RT Limited. The info on dealer is 100% correct. Both Spyders were through Len and he is an honest, caring person. Any dealings in the future will be through Len at Pittbull Powersports in Springfield, Mo. We are not far apart, so PM me for tele. number and we can meet up and Spyder talk.

I personally think you need an RSS. The other models may have you yearning for a passenger, something that you don't quite need now :>

Welcome to SpyderLovers. I'm sorry to hear about the divorce, but . . . been there, done that.

I have an RT, but if I was buying new, I'd sure consider the ST. As to SE or SM, I love the SE shift. You have to more actively steer, since you can't lean. After test ryding a manual, I decided to go with the semi-auto. I've seen people here say that since they have the SE, they can't see going back to manual.

Sorry to hear of your divorce also been there done that i have a 2012 RSS that fits the bill perfictly love the ride position and with the frunk and bags there is plenty of storage im a cycle rider of more than 35 years and the sm5 was the choise for me since i think that shifting the gears is part of the fun of riding a two or in this case a three wheeled spyder good luck and im sure you will love the spyder of your choise and +1 for Pit bull power sports sounds like the place to look and test ride your new spyder.
