• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

:spyder: I LOVE MY SPIDER BUT I,M A LITTLE UPSET ABOUT RECIEVING #3433 WHEN ORDERING LAST JULY.
NORMALY WHEN I BUY SOMETHING NEW I WAIT A YEAR OR SO.BUT HOPED AT A CHANCE TO GET SOMETHING SPECIAL I KNOW ABOUT BRP CLARIFACTION ON THERE SIGHT.
ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE FELLING THE SAME WAY.
I THINK BRP SHOULD DO SOMETHING A LITTLE BETTER TO THE PREMIER EDITION BUYERS THAT RECIEVED THERE SPYDER WITH # OVER 2500 I DID NOT ORDER IT TO PROFIT IN ANYWAY BUT TO RIDE FOR A VERY LONG TIME MY ROADGLIDE HAS NOT SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY IN OVER A MONTH.IT KIND OF STINKS HAVING TO EXPLAIN TO EVERY ONE HOW CAN IT BE ONE OF THE FIRST 2500 OR SO WHEN IT SAYS 3433. :( THEY SHOULD COME UP WITH A EMBLEM OR SOMETHING FOR THE 700 OR SO THAT WERE AFECTED FROM THERE OVERSEA SHIPMENT AND THERE NEW FLEET FOR DEMO RIDES. :edit: :edit: :edit:

I was upset for a while too. I have 2518 and my husband who ordered before me has 3786. After many miles of enjoyable riding, I just don't care anymore. As a matter of fact, it has become somewhat liberating. I used to think I would keep the whole thing stock. That it would be special because of that magic number and in it's original form. Now that the numbers are such a mess, I am having fun making this thing mine. I am getting a quote on a special paint job and graphics, I added the Hindle and Ken's power bus and brake kit. I have saddlebags. I just love this machine. I don't even pay attention to that plaque on the handlebars anymore. And the really interesting thing is this. With all the attention and questions I get about this Spyder at every stop I make, no one has ever asked me about the Premier Edition number on the handlebars. Also, interesting, at the Valcourt homecoming, one of their little "contests" is for best custom paint job. SO, since there is nothing we can do, just go out and enjoy your machine. YES BRP handled this poorly, YES, it would have been easy to just put numbers 1-2500 on plaques and send them to the correct orders. BUT, they didn't. Have fun and ryde safe.

BRP has done some "re-numbering". In February 08, I ordered a Spyder. I just filled out the paperwork and paid for it yesterday; title is in my hands! Quicker than the May31 deadline they originaly gave. But as for the number of the bike: 1339. But the dealer says its not a premier edition. HE says they restarted the numbering sequence.

Why would'nt they just keep the numbers going? Seems very odd.
Oh, well. I'm just super syched that I can pick it shortly. Now I just to secure insurance.

It works the same way on cars and trucks. Part of the VIN is the model year so they make 0001, 0002, 0003, etc. of the 2008 model year. For 2009 they reset the VIN sequence back to 0001, 0002, 0003, etc. or some scheme along those lines. Also, many automotive model changeovers happen in the middle of the year. For example, on or around July 1, 2008 an automotive manufacturer will start building their 2009 model year product.

Part of the VIN# is the model designation, too. A Chevelle has a different sequence of model letters and numbers prior to the sequential number at the end of the VIN. An Impala can have the same sequential number, but has different letters and numbers in the beginning. Same for the Spyders. The Premier Edition units had a different model designation, as I recall. Thus you can have ABC123Z01339, and XYZ987A001339. The sequential number is the same for both.
