Premature wear?

I am curious about you saying "it's your doing"?

In what way might I ask?

My dealer says it's a wear item and fairly well parked themselves on that position. Which means unless something changes their mind once things are appart(unlikely). They would hardly go to bat for me warranty wise(as we know, the dealer is an important component on any warranty issue) So, since I'm the only one who rides my spyder it must be me who wore them out.

Unless you dealer is Len(Pitbull) or Cowtown they have been know to make "mistakes" I would at least call one of them and see what they say or even PM them:thumbup: BRP sets what is covered not the dealer. They don't pay the dealer full amount on warranty work ( I heard :dontknow so they will try to get you to pay for some things you should not have to. JMHO. I don't mind paying if I need to but not if I do not.

It was almost a month ago this thread was started and I'm happy to say my spyder is well again. Front wheel bearings have been replaced and they were covered by the BEST warranty($50 deductible). Another thing, all four ball joints were replaced as well. Covered by BRP once their request for documentation was fullfilled. Thanks BRP.

Some personal thoughts.

All to often SpyderLovers have a better handle on things than some service writers do. And I was too willing to point a finger at myself for potentially being the cause of something I wasn't. But hey, nothing new there for me.

Beyond that. All I can say is WOW - what a difference!

I have question about the bearing if you know. Is the bearing double tapered with a solid double outer race with two single inner races? If this is the case would it need to be adjusted the same as conventional wheel hub with two tapered bearings?

Front wheel bearing and what I think I know about it. First, it is surprisingly big, both in width and diameter. Having not been inside one its hard to say what its internal construction is. Best guess, it's a needle bearing.

Glad you got it fixed and on BRP's dime. I figured your warranty should come into play.:thumbup:

Thought I had noticed a slight shimmy when riding Wednesday. Then last night it was no longer a thought. It was real.

Wheel bearings. The right side is worse than the left. @11+K

General consensus. Wear item, or warranty?

A friend of mine has me check his rear axle nut torque before he toes his trailer and when he changes his oil. The trailer puts most of it load on the rear wheel bearings and if the axle pulls back it can increase the belt tension. When he had his rear tire changed the axle was not torqued to 97 ft./lbs. That why most problems with Spyders are caused by maintenance that is poorly done or not done at all. That's IMHO.
