• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Pre Delivery Inspection question??

What does the Pre-delivery Inspection entail? Is it a BRP requirement for the dealer? Is the PDI sent back to BRP along with the VIN? What things would Spyderlovers include in the "checklist" to insure the machine is assembled correctly and trouble free before it leaves the store? Does a tech or store manager have to sign off on it?
I'd like to see an ST or RT-S in my garage next year, if I can stay healthy.

The check list is only as good as the dealership is. The "slimey" dealers will just check everything off, whether they did the work or not. An easy way to cut costs on the cut rate purchases. Sign off by the manager does not mean a thing in those places.

Just because there are rules, does not make the dealers follow them.

It consists mostly of showing the controls and functions. I would recommend you take pictures to document cosmetic condition because once you ride off the lot, and if you later find damage they will say you did it. When I bought my RS in 2011 I found a scrap on my rim a week later, and had it not been for my pics of when I took possession I would have been up a creak. Plus the pics are a great way to remember the start of the fun times.

It's just about the same dance routine that you'd see with any new vehicle...
Before delivery; the techs should be checking off stuff to show that it's been inspected
Then the sales guy has his own checklist to show that he's told you about the "secret handshake..." ;)

Truth be told:
they'll run through everything so fast that your head will be spinning and you won't remember what you did OR didn't hear...
Take along your own checklist with questions that you want answered; that'll throw them off and give you time to dig out their checklist and then make them slow down and actually address it.

 You stay healthy!

Anybody have one.

I would be interested to see a PDI checklist. Does anyone out there have one they would like to share?

If there is a Delivery checklist done by the salesman, it would be interesting to see one of those also. Anyone?

A week ago, my dealer went thru everything in great detail with me. It probably took about 20 minutes with paper work and 30 minutes with the Spyder going thru everything on a thorough walk around. This was followed with the dealer watching me make a few circles around the parking lot. Stopping and starting and backing up. I also got a good introduction to the audio system and GPS while he sat up my favorite radio stations.

I was very impressed with their attention to detail. They are a Canam Platinum-rated small dealer in Southern Maryland. Your salesman is the owner of the business. In my opinion, it couldn't have been done any better.

I also got a sample of their service attitude in that a 2012 RT-S owner was there for minor maintenance while I was there and he was their focus of attention until he was happy while I waited to complete my sale. That for me gave me one of the bigger smiles of the day.

It's a formal check list, That the dealer [is supposed to] go over it with you, And you sign off on it' And keep a copy.
But it doesn't always happen. When i bought my Spyder i got one, The same with my Tri Glide and truck.
Better yet, When they hand the Spyder over to you, Slow Up the guy with the list take your time and slowly make them go over the list with you, I know it's hard not to just jump on the machine and drive off, But like i said slow up.

I've heard the PDI brought up in other threads. Is it a real document or procedure required on each vehicle sold? Is it a binding agreement akin to the warranty? Would it put some responsibility or even liability on the dealer to assure the bike is trouble free before delivery or is the liability solely on BRP?

I am cautiously optimistic this next generation of Spyders will raise the bar for reliability. It appears some of the issues are being addressed. Examples are improved suspension, better brakes, better heat management, and stonger frame just to name a few.

Common sense engineering based on rider feedback greatly improves any manufacturer's ride. I have read many threads about loose battery connections and poorly placed ground terminals. These issues and their ripple effect issues can be eliminated with thoughtful engineering of connectors and ground points. Just my 2 cents. I'd like to see some discussion on this. :chat:
