• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How can I increase the power on my spyder. I was riding last night with a friend who has a Kawasaki Ninja and he blew by me in second gear and I was in fifth gear going 60 mph?

Yeah..learn to go faster with higher RPMs in lower gears and you can keep up with him on a 600 easy. I don't go to 5th until I am over 70, depending on my mood. Not great on the gas but the spyder humms right along. She likes to be pushed from time to time.

You may not be able to stay with him in acceleration due to weight... but you'd be a lot closer if you were just thinking about shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 60 (at about 7600 RPM).

Lamonster is big on the juice box...I got one but have to find time to install it...

It is supposed to be one of the best things you can do for performance...

I thought I was able to stay in first until 60mph before nearing red line. Hang on really tight though.:lecturef_smilie:

Ninja (large displacement?). Don't worry about adding to the Spyder. If you want to beat him, you'll have to buy something faster than the Ninja because you won't get there with the Spyder.

The Ninja is a 9-10 second bike off the showroom floor... yours is a 13+ second roadster which might be modded to mid-12's without serious bucks. Even with serious bucks ($6-10k)... like a supercharger or turbocharger... you probably still won't get there.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

If it was a 650R or below, you will be able to hang..maybe not beat but come darn close. Here is Raleigh, it is like sport bike heven and we meet up every Thursday with about 80-90 of them on nice sunny days. Anything higher, they will blow you away, juice or not, spyder is just not made to run that way. Tell him to carry two cases of beer and a bag of chips and see how fast he can go though..lol.

I understand Spyders like running at higher RPMs. What are the best RPMs to run with in each gear? :dontknow:

The Juice Box helps but you aren't going to get Ninja performance out of it (or anything else short of a small block Chevy transplant).

my old 96 kawasaki ninja 750 would do 100 in 2nd gear and 180 in 6th gear uphill and 1,500 in redline + or- for speedo error.
my suzuki 2003 1000 would pull the front wheel off the ground in third gear at 130 just rolling on the throttle. There even faster now.
Ill stick with the spyder its fun and gets me home in one piece :-)
