• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Power Commander vs Juice Box?

I sent an email to Dynojet regarding PC for the Spyder. The response from Jay Carpenter was they are in the R & D stage and to continue to check back with them for an updated ETA.

I've heard some good things about the PC. The Spyder is my 1st bike. I've heard you can be more precise dialing it in than a JB. Can someone who has used a PC chime in and give a break down on the benefits/disadvantages of a Power Commander?

Power Commnaders allow the adding and removing of fuel throughout the entire rpm range. They are user friendly once you get used to them and maps can be downloaded via computer so if someone gets the settings real good, they can post up the map and anyone can download it to thier PC. I have used one since 2001 on bikes and quads and love them. A downside is they are larger than the JB, but that can be worked around. I have also been in contact with Dynojet inquiring about the PC's. I'm hoping it will be the PC5, which has many add-ons that you can get for even more precise tuning.

Power Commanders are much more precise and flexible then the JB. Most add-on boxes only add fuel to the curve, a PC allows you to add some here, and take some away there. And, it allows you to tailor the amounts throughout the RPM range. I don't know the specifics of the one for the Spyder, but some also allow you to alter the ignition curve to some degree.

So it sounds great right? But, these units are often quite a lot more expensive than a JB, etc. And, to get the maximum potential from a PC, you need to have your bike dyno'd, by a tech who knows what they are doing. This adds another expense. Sure the downloadable maps may work, but they might not be the best for 'your' bike. And from what I gather, getting the Spyder to hook up to a dyno correctly is a pain in the rear.

My advice, FWIW, save your money and get the JB. Unless you want to squeeze every ounce of performance from the Spyder you can, the JB is a much wiser investment.

Having a PC available for a Spyder would be great. I'm not holding my breath, though. Too hard for them to hack the Spyder fuel map to get their baseline. If they do introduce one, I suspect it will only work in one mode and will not have the auto-tune feature. I hope they prove me wrong. My wife does all the time.

Although I have to get out and tweak it a bit more, I have found the JB to make major changes...love it!
