• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Power Assist For Steering Cutting Out!

Has anyone had or heard of a problem with the power assist for the steering cutting out.
I got my 2014 RT-S a few months ago. Occasionally when I start to take a turn I find myself having to struggle with the steering. As soon as I straighten the wheel the power assist starts working again.
Luckily it's only happened on slow turns when just starting out or slowing down to turn. Sometimes it doesn't do it for a couple days and some days it will do it twice in one day. CFPS says they can't do anything about it unless they can reproduce the problem. Of course the only way they are going to reproduce the problem is to ride it every day for a while. They did mention the DPS but said it's a $1000 part and if it doesn't solve the problem.... then what? If I crash & burn because they didn't try..... then what?
Any Help Here???

I agree; why not take a look at the electrical connections for the DPS?
Good Luck! Please let us know what you find!

This has been a problem with BRP . From 2008. They change the dps and I still have a problem, take it to your dealer and tell them to fix it. :gaah:

Wait... it's a 2014... I wouldn't give a rats behind about them telling me it would cost anything... they need to diagnose and fix it under warranty.

Have to agree..!!

seems to be a connection. The dps uses a great deal of the electrical power being generated and any loose connection can cause a probkem. Weak battery, bad ground or power connection. Although hard to reach checking the dps hook up at the steering is a good place to start. If not in your comfort zone check with another dealer. It is not normal or common and potensionally dangerous. Keep us up to date on this...:gaah:

Your dealer needs to call BRP and get assistance now!! Someone reported the same problem here a couple days ago http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...s-of-steering-assist&highlight=power+steering

When it happens you might hit MODE-SET-TURNSIGNAL CANCEL to see if any active codes are present.
Your dealer can get the entire history via BUDS.
There are a lot of possible codes thrown by the DPS, it is the most instrumented component on the Spyder except maybe for the Throttle Bodies.

All that does is change my sound system from Aux to radio.
