• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A friend of mine owns a Spyder and is working me hard to get one. Been looking at a bike purchase for the last couple years, and keep worrying about spilling on gravel. So the Spyder is a great option.

A couple of questions on them, I am 6'6" and 300lbs so sitting on them the shifter and brake feel off to me. Does anyone know of a mod to extend them out further from the bike by an inch and maybe even extend the arm as well?

Also in terms of repair and maintenance, how has everyone felt their Spyder has done. I am a cheap dutchmen :joke: and this would be a pretty big splurge for me.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to SpyderLovers Blackhawk. Is your friend a member of this board? In any case, there have been a few shifter (heal / toe shifter) and brake extension mods done but I can't say that they will necessarily help you. There have been some hand brake mods done and one vendor is coming out with a hand brake kit. That along with getting an electronic shift, SE5 Spyder, might solve your problem.

Yes he is. *edit* I realized I didn't say who, daddydarko is the culprit.

Do you have a link for those mods that were done. I didn't have alot of luck with a search.

lamonster was the first with a cable actuated hand brake.

I couldn't find a specific link to the heel / toe shifter or the brake pedal extension. Maybe someone else knows exactly where that info was or the people who have done it can chime in.

welcome I am also 6' 7" and 350 and there is a company ICSU coming out with very sturdy foot rest and brake and also a hand brake and long distance foot pegs, in a few weeks. I will also be purchasing a spyder later this year and researched the same things you are asking about. Because the position of the regular brake and foot peg, is too far back for men our size.

First of all, welcome, Alex.

Now get ready--especially after three posts here--for a firestorm of well-meaning jibes after signing off with that comment!!

OK. I'll start:

Pop quiz.
1. How many dzuz fasteners are there on a Spyder?
2. How many should there be?
3. What is the recommended tire pressure front & rear for the Spyder?
4. What does the owner's manual recommend? (do not repeat your answer from question #3.)
5. What's the fuel capacity of a Spyder?
6. What's the fuel capacity of a Spyder? (do not repeat your answer from #5.)
7. OK, NOW what's the fuel capacity of a Spyder? (do not repeat your answers from #5 nor #6.)
8. What's the top speed of a Spyder?
9. What's the top speed of a Spyder in France, driving with one hand?
10. How many Premiere Editions of the Spyder were manufactured. (Hint: There were exactly 2,500.)
Bonus question: What are the best windshield, seat, fuel octane, engine break-in method, and type/weight of dino/synthetic/blend oil for the Spyder?

:joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: :joke: and :joke:
