• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Post Deletion

I believe I just had a post deleted, I'm not sure but I can no longer find it. I know that Lamont owns this forum and is a moderator but I don't if there are others.
To delete someones post with no notification is just rude. A PM or email stating "Your post has been deleted for the following reason......" would be polite and would not leave the poster wondering "What happened to my post". Or maybe a PM or email asking the poster to edit or delete the post themselves could be useful. Too much work is not a good excuse.

i have had a few deleted w/o a note. when you do get a PM, it comes with a warning. so just get used to it

I had one deleted recently b/c I believe someone complained about a picture; so, I guess it was found offensive, and Lamont doesn't tell you why; that's just the way it is. Did you break one of Lamont's commandments, or maybe you didn't actually submit the post. If you want me to guess, P.M. what you had written.

I was actually warned one time by Lamont to change the tone of my post, or it would be deleted. I substituted a word or two, and he let it pass.

Yeah; it got pulled.
I was trying to post something in there, and...

It was gone! :dontknow:

Nekkid CowGirl bottoms must be off-limits! nojoke

It may not have been Lamont: there is at least one unnamed moderator lurking... :yikes:

And I will never divulge that person's identity.

I didn't think the cowgirl pic was offensive but apparently someone did.

2Paw, I didn't see your post that was deleted, but I do know how much hard work it IS to keep on top of a Forum like this so that the majority of readers/posters can continue to enjoy it. So I'm sorry, but you do realise that this particular Forum (like most) is NOT a Democracy, don't you?!? And it's not just a 'free for all do as you will' place or board that's here to let you, me, or anyone else do with or post on as we will either - it's LAMONT BRYDEN's place, and he kindly extended an invitation all us Spyder Lovers to come on in & play in his sandpit, just so long as we comply with HIS RULES while we're in HIS PLACE, rules that are posted up in lotsa spots for you to check out & read, and just by being here as a member reading all the loverly Spyder info, and especially by being here & posting here as well as by continuing to post here, you are signifying that you already HAVE AGREED to be bound by all of HIS rules about coming here & by playing here... Just like I have & am, Cuznjohn has & is, Bob Denman has & is, & all the rest of us here have & are.... and yeah, some of us might have occasionally been rude enough to have had posts or even entire threads removed without notice like you - but actually, it's FAR WORSE of an offence if you DO get notice, cos any notice will usually be in the form of a warning or a notice of suspension! So you were lucky that he didn't take more exception to your rudeness! :lecturef_smilie:

It's simple really - his place, his rules. :dontknow:

I thought that it was inappropriate. nojoke
If you go out into the Texas Sun undressed like that, and without any sunscreen: you're gonna regret it! :yikes:

I do understand his place, his rules, but it doesn't cost anything to be polite. Everything you've said I acknowledged in the first post of this thread. If I was rude what I suggest is a way to let me know. I have no objection to the post being deleted if thought to be inappropriate, just in the manner it was done. But if that's the way it is, that's the way it is.

Look at it this way: getting one pulled is a good way to learn where the "edges" are! :D
I still lose one every once in a while, and I should know better by now! :banghead:

:D I like them both!
Well... the semi-automatic version of that rifle anyway; I don't have a practical use for fully-automatic firepower!

Well, Lamont's rules do say "G to PG" so I assume nude pictures are beyond that limit. If the mere mention or picture of a gun offends you, you should definitely move to another country . . or another web-site, at least.

let me see, a naked woman is offensive but an automatic weapon is not. guess i should move to sweden.

After a little more thought, I don't believe it's the mention or a pic of a gun that offends you, but the fact that many people don't believe the same as you think they should. I find that very offensive!

We all agree to live by the rules, but some do stretch to find the limits some times. A delete is just a slap on the hand and does happen from time to time. Been there a couple times. Getting smarter as the time goes by.

Nobody said anything about being offended by the mention or picture of a gun. And, I would have rated the picture of a nude from the back as a PG at worst. We were just commenting on the interesting value system in some parts of our society.
