• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Possible to own BUDS system?

You can..!!

there are some systems out there but not the brp ones. Don't hear much other than they are not up to date and expensive. I seem to have seen where you can buy the system from brp but may be wrong. At any rate there may be some one here that has tried them and will let you know for sure.. just google it...!! :thumbup:

I had a discussion with one of the higher up real BRP Techs earlier this year and I specifically asked him if it was illegal for a person to own the Buds Software. His reply was " No ". If you can afford it, buy it. It is not reserved for just Dealers. Dealers are required to have the Buds so they can work on the different equipment they sell. They also get there software updated more often. The purpose for use the Spyder owner is to have the software is to do maintenance on the Spyder as specified in the Service manual.

EXACTLY what we where told by upper BRP management...so it is really a personal choice to buy one or not...

you are looking at $1250 from the USA dealer to a price on Ebay for that same unit from the Ukraine $1695.00 (they come with different software upgrade price levels)

But you cannot purchase directly from BRP...this company is a francise , they a have dealer in the USA, one in Australia and one in the Ukraine.The Bud they sell works EXACTLY the same as the Bud BRP dealers have or so I am told.

$1250 is a chunk better than the $1650 I've been seeing over the years. (Was looking for a while for Seadoo use)

So is there a tangible benefit to owning a fully legitimate and upgradeable version of BUDS for the typical Spyder owner? {Spyderer?? :shocked:}

I would say NO unless you know exactly what you are doing " maintence" wise on your Spyder...most techs are BRP certified...the only way I can see wanting to buy one is if you had a laser alignment system...resetting the steering sensors is shaking out to be a must OR cheaper yet make a deal with a local BRP dealer to recode for you AFTER the laser align...I called our local dealer they said $50 HOLY SHI...bat man,,, I cannot swallow that...have to make a deal with them for cheaper price

Hi Mike here, How do you know if you have to have the BUDS done after LAZER alignment .........or........is it absolutely necessary No Matter what ? ? ? :thumbup:

Mike, if your alignment is off by a total of 3", there recommendation is to get the sensors reset, however it is good practice just to do it preventively, but not mandatory unless it goes limp.

I was told that the anyone can own the software (as long as you pay the price), it's the license from BRP that you need to keep active every year to keep up with updates that's going to be an issue because you need to be a dealer or a certified tech to have the license. And BUDS work not only on Spyders, but all of BRP's products. But this was a few years back...

I've been snoopin around the forums, and I am very interested in this as well.

Thanks for the link in post 1, I have sent off an email about the Spyder BUDS availability.

Let's see what they say.

Keep us updated :thumbup: I dug it up for the Rolo people so they can do their own resets.
