Portable Air Compressor for 2014 RT-S

Ran into a problem with my Slime portable air compressor. Worked great with my 2012 RT, but blows fuses on my new 2014 RT-S.

It uses 15 amps, and the rear 12 Volt plug is 3 amp rated.

What do you guys use for a portable air compressor with your 2014 RT's?

Carry portable power - I do

I use this for camping, helping others, etc. I've not jumped my Spyder with it, but it is capable of starting cars...I carry this all the time to help myself or anyone with a low/dead battery, charging items such as cell phones, air compressor, etc. - plenty of power.

Antigravity Batteries Micro-Start Jump Starter/Personal Power Supply XP-1 XP-1 :thumbup: Used mine a few times and works great and holds a charge a long time (months)...

BTW, I also carry a portable compressor and plug kit.

I think you need an auxilliary power socket connected direct to the battery via a suitable in-line fuse holder.
I also think that it's not advisable to increase the value of the fuse which is currently blowing, which is sometimes a temptation.

What portable compressor do you use? It can't be rated over 3 amps for use with the 2014 RT.

Consider this one. Yes, it's a Harley product but it's good and comes with a flexible valve stem extension that is perfect for the rear wheel, and is rated at 7 amps, exactly as is my fused battery tender pigtail to which it connects. I thank Spyderann for tipping me off to it.

Can't you hook up the slime direct to the battery using the clips that come with the slime kit. I have the slime but haven't tried it on my 2014 RT. I'm glade this post came up. Makes me concerned for the future.

I'm actually considering this one. Only 4 amp draw. Very portable.

As I said, the Slime worked fine on my 2012. For some reason, the newer models have a lower amp fuse on the 12 Volt in the rear trunk.

Air compressor 12V. supply

If you have a battery maintainer plug on your Spyder you can hook your compressor directly into the sae plug that your maintainer uses...That's how I do it on my Spyder/ATV's & motorcycle...larryd

See my response on the other thread, but I use something like the following connected to my battery tender (which is connected direct to the battery via a 30a fuse.
