• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Please help, short ride now will not start...

I have an 09 SE5 with 250 miles on it. I took it out for an easy ride around town with the wife on the back. It ran just fine until I returned home. I shut it off in the drive way to let the wife off. Within a minute or two I got back on and went to start it to put it up. I turned the key on but it would not go through the normal reset of gauges but I hit the start button anyway and nothing happened. I noticed the gear indicator said it was in 1st gear but the paddle switch would not put it in neutral or have any effect. I checked the relays and found several where not seated all the way so I pressed them in and tried it again. This time gauges did react to power on but the starter motor will not turn the motor over or even try.
I pushed it into the shed for the night and will look at it in the morning.
Please help, what should I look for. I just had the power steering recall done. But this was a real surprise. I sure was glad I did not turn it off before we got home. Please need advise as to where to start with things, Thanks…

If it's n 1st gear se5 will not start step on brake when you crank it. It should start right up if it's not other electrical problems.

on the se5's it will say its in gear but its not, the cpu has to clear that so you do have to have brake depressed to make it start.

Turn on the key
Push the mode switch
Kill switch on
Step on the brake
Start Spyder
:spyder2:Will return to neutral
Ride :spyder2: Have fun!!
Don't ask how I know this??????

Please forgive me....

Sorry guys, please don’t black list me. I will get it check out and tried on Wed. afternoon. I was going to get it done but ran into several doctors appointments. I promise I will post Wednesday night to let you know what worked. All I can do is ask for forgiveness. A few years ago I was hit on the left side riding a bike to work. I have had multiple surgeries and I am still working with doctors and that takes up lots of time. That is why I now have a spider and that is why I have so few miles on it. Please let me slide this time and look for a post the night of he 25th. A good standing on this site means a great deal to me. Thanks to all that gave me advise. Again I had no intention of wasting your time. Ride safe, from one who knows…

No worries. A lot of us SpyderLover addicts can't understand that some members may have other things to do instead of checking out these forums multiple times per day.

No need to worry whatsoever. Your health and welfare definitely comes first. We just like to know whether our suggestions helped someone solve their problem, or if they are still having troubles. Take your time to reply, and best of luck with the doctor visits.

its alive, its alive, its alive....

Thank you one and all for your input. And Oh yes do I feel stupid. Taking the info that everyone gave to me, the problem proved to be the fact that I shut it off in 1st gear. Yes all I had to do was press the manual brake pedal on the right side and it starts like a champ.
Again if I upset any of by not getting back to you sooner, I am sorry. Many of you have a lot of good experience with the spyder and I may need that in the future. I hope you will all be there. May we all ride safe…

no worries, I did not know how to start mine the first time I actually sat on it, the guy that put the hand brake and floor boards said "yeah hit the mode button" what the hell is that? "the thing on the dash that says m"

craziness, like starting a jet, too bad its not as fast.

glad you got what ya needed to get going.

You guys start the :spyder2: without reading the safety card, what kind of magic is that ?:roflblack:

I read my safety card all the time before I start the Spyder. In fact, it is usually pulled out and waiting to be read when I am parked in a public place.
