On a trickle charger. It fired right up, but when we checked the oil, noticed air bubbles in the oil...

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thank you! We really appreciate your assistance. My Dan bought the 2010 Spyder RT; he wanted me to ride with him, he has neuropathy and there’s a Screaming Eagle (Harley) 1200 in the basement... I adore the Spyder, but we are newbies and appreciate your kindness and assistance!:thumbup:

IF the bubbles are air........and not water.
But the oil should not be checked when it is "cold" anyway.
Hope there isn't more to this story.

... being new perhaps the oil check proceedure was not brought up. You need to warm up the engine to operarting temperature then shut her down and check the oil level. Add or remove as needed. Best time to check your oil is coming in from a ryde...:thumbup:

BRP oil tends to foam more than most. As mentioned, you cannot get an accurate oil level reading with the oil cold. The oil (not the coolant) needs to be at operating temperature. Which means you must ride the machine for at least several miles (especially in cold weather). Of course it goes without saying that you need to be on flat ground when you check (a gas station will have a flat surface at the pumps).
The best time to check oil level is either when you get fuel after some riding. Or at home at the end of a ride. Let the Spyder idle for 30 seconds or so, shut it off and check the oil level. If the oil is still foamed. Wait another few minutes and try again. Doing it this way you don't need to check the oil at the beginning of a ride (where you can't get an accurate reading anyway).
