There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Plea for help for other SL folks

As some may know (or not know) I have been making BlueTooth dongle cables for people that dont have the soldering talent to make one. I do this for free 100%. They order the parts, ship them to me, I make and test the cable, and they pay shipping back. I have made 5 cables to date with 2 on the bench as we speak.

However this cable I make plugs directly into the radio. Recently it has come to my attention that if you have the XM radio you also have the entertainment harness and thus the BT cable plugs into that. This is a different connector than the radio connector.

I now have a person wanting a BT cable to plug into the entertainment harness because they also have the XM radio. I really would love to help this person and I suspect there will be others later that want one too. He already ordered ther wrong connector (the radio one) because I did not know he had the XM radio and entertainment harness :(

So please, if someone can do one of two things it would really help a lot of folks.

1) If you have a entertainemnt harness (part #219400201) would you be willing to ship it to me so I can map it out and I will ship it back to you. 1 week max out of hand is all I need. I will pay shipping both ways.

2) Or if you have the harness can you please take detailed pictures of the back of each plug so I can see wire colors and pin numbering. I am right now mostly interested in the BT connector and the 36 pin radio connector but would prefer pictures of all of the connectors for future use.

Another way would be to take pictures of the BRP BT long dongle cable (not the short one) and I think I can map it back to the radio based on pictures I have of the short one already.

I will work with you on this too in anyway I can so we can help others.

Thanks,
Bob

Actually this will help do what I need right now. Still would like the entertainment harness for full detail but in this pinch this is all I need.

As you can see the picture below does not give me the detail I need for the smaller bottom connector. I have the detail for the top larger connector. The bottom one I cannot see exactly what colors go to what pins! If I had that, I could make the BT dongle for connecting to the entertainment harness.

So if anyone has this (the stock BRP BT dongle) can you take a detailed picture of the back of the small connector?

121 views and no one?

Hoping someone will step up and help others.

If someone near me has a RT with a entertainment harness I would be willing to ride to your house and with one simple panel (2 screws) removal, I can get the info we all need.

Thanks,
Bob

If you don't get what you need let me know. I could do it on Sat but that would be the soonest. I will pm you my cell phone and you can send me a text or call if you still need it.

Have to take mine out to send it to you but thinking oughta move it to the back anyway. Saturday I'm off work msg me if you still need it! I bought the phone bt before they had the dongle then they told me I needed the entertainment harness so I got it come to find out it didn't play music so when I hit Maggie Valley BRP cut me some slack on their dongle kit. Come to find out it didn't require the entertainment harness but I've got the Garmin 665 with Xm antenna just never used it except for weather and traffic so I dropped XM. Now I'm wondering what all I can remove I don't actually need for just the dongle.

Khudos to Bob/Finless for all the effort he has put in to help others with their spyder setup. We need more people like you and Roger/Rattigan, Bob.

Thanks again.

So I have a couple of options now :)

Stevedfive has access to one out of the bike so I think I will take him up on his offer. It's a little bit of a pain for him but is probably the best way.

I understand removing that harness could be a lot of work as some if it is buried under the entire rear area?

TicketBait, I would run by your place one day since your close to my work but I am worried the harness is buried and while it's easy access to the radio plug I have no idea where the BT connector would be especially since you have the CB and it's plugged into the same connector. I have seen pictures of what it takes to install the CB and not sure we would want to go there ;)

Others, THANK YOU! If something falls through I will PM you for follow up.

Appreciate all of you offering to help out! Looks like I will get what we need :)

Now when you get all that hashed out how bout figuring out how we can hook up an Android phone to the rear trunk connector and control our music. My 13 RTS will do that but only with crApple phones!

Not possible. iOS supports a protocol to allow control of iOS from other devices. The radio implements this iOS protocol. Android does not have this and probably will never have this since it is proprietary to Apple.

Man that sucks! Ok forget that and just design us a better radio....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Well that is also not doable.... BRP has modified Can-Bus protocol which the radio uses to talk to the cluster (display) Again another freakin proprietary thing that unless you can reverse engineer, not going to happen.

I wish the entire system was open like Android and then I could do freakin WONDERS with it. Alas BRP decided that IP and proprietary protocols were necessary :(

I am an Android supporter and NUT... I in fact run my own website where I customize ROMs for Android devices.

OPEN SOURCE BABY! Everything should be that way!

And I don't want to hear from others how dangerous that would be.... You wont get agreement from me in any way so don't try! :banghead:

OK so the cable locally fell through. Someone bought it before I could look at it :(

So I am still in need of pictures of the RD02 radio connector (the back with the wires coming out) and the BT connector on the entertainment harness.

So those that offered, if you can please help.

I am thinking I might bight the bullet and just by the damn harness for $114 + shipping even though I do not need it. Might help for future project though. But that will delay the guy waiting for a cable from me.

Bob

I thought I stumbled across one this weekend on ebay but the guy is listing the antenna wire and calling it an "audio cable".... what a noob!
