• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Plastic plate under bike

Hi all,

I noticed today that there was a plastic plate or protection plate hanging from my 2013 RT Limited. It is located on the left side next to the oil reservoir. It’s about 12 inches by 8 inches. I can’t find what this is called. I also can’t align the holes to replace the plastic rivets Using zip ties for now. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Roger

I believe you mean the skid plate. A search on line may help. See if you can find the image, then perhaps other RT owners can point you in the right direction. This site is loaded with awesome folks that love to help other ryders.
Good luck!

When I look up skid plates it only shows front end skid plates. What I have hanging is a plastic cover much further back just in front of the footboard and next to oil reservoir.

Thanks for the reply. To the shop it goes. I already have an appointment on June 18 for A-Arm bushings. Can’t wait for that bill.

Might be listed as “deflector” I tried looking at the exploded view on cheapcycleparts.com sorry if was there I may have missed it. Hopefully your dealer can give you its proper name

IIRC, there should be two of those, one on each side. They are attached with push pins and again, IIRC, a single torx screw. They can be a PITA to align and you might have loosen other panels up to get proper alignment, but it'll go. If you can't or are unable to align them, then a dealer trip should do the trick.

IMO, they aren't necessary and just protect the engine compartment from road debris and grim, but are a good thing to have.

Thank you everyone for your advice and direction. I have to take my bike in next week for A-Arm Bushings replacement and they will look at it then. I have called a couple dealerships/maintenance shops and the common thread is that the cover is really not needed and a lot of riders remove them to have the bile run cooler. If they can just clip this cover back in place, I'll have them do that. Otherwise, I'm not spending the money for replacement.

I appreciate the feedback from all of you.

Roger
