• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

plasti dip

hi all i did a little plasti dip on my bike sorry ill get some pics during the day but over all man this stuff is nice going to do some more when the weather gets better here 20130210_223007.jpg20130210_223024.jpg

I know about Plasti Dip I have used it on tool handles for years. I'm sorry but I don't see the reasoning behind doing such a thing to a spyder. What are the advantages for you or the spyder?

Car guys have been dipping their cars for a while now, to change the color and yet be able to change it back quickly or as rock chip protection. Bike guys have recently picked up the trend. I was going to go with vinyl film, but now I think I might try dipping it.

Don't like the color? Peel it off and it's none the worse for wear. https://www.dipyourcar.com/pages.php?pageid=48

Can you get a gloss finish with Plasti Dip?

If you go over decales will it remove the decals if you remove the Plasti Dip?

they sell clear coat(it looks much better in matte thou. glossiness kinda cheapens the look but thats just me) and variety of colors and no it will not take the decals off when you peel it off.

We have a dip company coming in for spyderfest... pretty cool stuff.

Thanks for your reply.

Can the clear coat be applied over the colored coat?

Yes.
More coats of clear, more glossy finish you will end up with.
From flat finish, 1 or 2 light coat will result in satin finish but additional coats will yield more glossy finish.

Homedepot carries plastidip in aerosol can in black. You most likely will have to order online for rest of their lineup.

Dipped rims. Not the best best finish in the world but for $6, I am happy with it.

My son did his CBR600 F4 frame in black. DON`T get gass on it! It will take it right off or at least the brand he used. Personaly I didn`t think it was that durable. Like I said it may be something he did or the brand. JMHO

I have used "the dip" on hand tools for years. Metal parts, wooden parts, and various other surfaces. I am careful to apply properly, and have never had it come off or crack. ------Budro
